Most people don’t know that you’re considered a cancer survivor at the moment of diagnosis. It wasn’t always this way. Sixty years ago, a cancer diagnosis was a death sentence. And if you did survive, you were left to figure out the rest of your life on your own.
But some survivors demanded something different, something better.
This is The Cancer Mavericks, a deep-dive narrative into the people who fought for better treatment, forced doctors to listen, and pushed America to see the human side of the disease.
Episodes of this series will publish monthly through the end of December 2021 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the National Cancer Act of 1971.
A Wondery original podcast so compelling it was reimagined for TV starring Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Sissy Spacek, and more... When Molly's diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer, she decides to do something bold: she leaves her unhappy marriage and embarks on a series of sexual adventures to help her feel alive. She shares the funniest and most touching details with her closest friend, host Nikki Boyer. As they peel back the layers, we learn that Molly isn’t just grappling with breast cancer: she's also dealing with some trauma from her past. Along the journey, the friends explore bigger themes that affect us all -- like healing, forgiveness and what do we do with the time we have left.

About Show
Grief is a Sneaky Bitch creator and host Lisa Keefauver is on a mission to reimagine grief, one conversation at a time.
Yes this is a podcast all about grief. She and her guests explore the expansiveness and pervasiveness of grief in our lives, because let’s face it, 100% of us experience grief, multiple times in our lives. Lisa witnessed it time and time again in her career as a social worker and in her personal life too with the most significant loss being her husband in 2011. More recently, she experienced ambiguous grief as she navigated breast cancer in 2024. And yet, individually, and collectively, we’re so grief-illiterate and that is causing us all harm. So, she's on a mission to reimagine grief, one conversation at a time. So glad you’re joining us.
She brings her deep curiosity, love of conversation, and knowledge of how language and culture shapes our experiences of ourselves and our world (including our grief) to each unscripted conversation. From thought leaders, CEO's and social workers to authors, educators, researchers, filmmakers and stay-at-home moms, her guests open up about the complexity, confusion, and even confidence they have gained by navigating a grief journey of their own.

Bringing Hope, driven by science. Isabelle Amigues, MD, is a physician scientist with a speciality in rheumatology. She has trained both in Paris, France as well as Columbia University, in New York City. At age 40, in the midst of an existential crisis, she was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. A timely meeting with a non-traditionally trained practitioner taught her a different approach to disease. She experienced the power of meditation, visualization, energy healing and love. Her journey through cancer inspired her to learn more about these alternative approaches, and now that she has studied many of them she has integrated them into her own practice of medicine. Dr. Amigues is the author of multiple book chapters and scientific articles in rheumatology. She is the founder and CEO of UnabridgedMD.

“The first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club.” The first response to a life-changing medical diagnosis is much the same. Not for us! After a chance meeting over hospital food, bad guitar riffs, and chemo drips, two guys, from very different backgrounds, with very different stories, realized 3 crucial things: 1. our voices matter 2. there’s plenty to talk about 3. we’re frickin' hilarious! We all know that cancer sucks. And those in “the know” can tell you that it doesn’t really matter whether it’s curable or chronic. It always sucks! So here we are... either living with it, or with its ghosts. But somewhere along the way, we discovered that if we can’t laugh at ourselves, what’s the point of it all? There’s a lot of material to be had here! Dying Laughing is rooted in finding the humor in our moments. There’s a time to be PC and respectful when discussing our diseases... and there’s a time to get real about all the extra “stuff” that comes with them. We’re here to bring it all together. BONUS! Our conversations are not reserved only for those who’ve been dealt the cancer hand. We embrace all the embarrassing, absurd, and hysterical chronicles of health-related events. Stop by and check out what the ‘Key & Peele of chronic disease’ are talking about next! Click, like, and share @dyinglaughingpodcast on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Or email us at [email protected]. Don’t be shy! Slide right into our DM's. Tell us what you think, what you’d like to hear more of, and definitely let us know if you have a story to share. We’re dying to laugh with you too!

The Deep C Podcast is for families, caregivers, friends and community who are supporting a child through a cancer diagnosis.
While every ounce of your being is used to carry your child, this podcast is here to carry you. When you're bedside at the hospital, sitting in a waiting room for the millionth appointment, or just need to feel like you're not alone in this dark place - come find us.
Our conversations will match the ones you're already having in your head. No topic is off limits, no fear is kept hidden. We speak to parents and caregivers at every stage of a diagnosis - families who are NED and families who are bereaved - diving deep into their reflections and personal accounts of how they walked (sometimes crawled) through their child's cancer diagnosis.
This is not a medical podcast, we don't discuss chemo cocktails or treatment plans. You already talk about that enough. This podcast is where you come for conversations between people JUST like you: scared, tired, determined, and fierce as hell.
