Before cancer was a hashtag. Before survivorship was a talking point. Before anyone rang a damn bell—there were Mavericks.

They didn’t look like heroes. They weren’t trying to go viral. They were patients, parents, doctors, punks, poets, and misfits who got sick, got angry, and got loud. They questioned authority, rewrote the rules, and turned personal trauma into public transformation. They didn’t wait to be invited into the room—they built new rooms.

The Cancer Mavericks is a documentary podcast series about the people who made survivorship matter—before it had a name. From the National Cancer Act to the birth of the AYA movement, from grassroots organizing to celebrity activism, from chemo brain to the cancer Moonshot—this is the untold history of how patients forced the system to care.

Created and hosted by 30-year brain cancer survivor and healthcare rebel Matthew Zachary, this isn’t a story about cancer. It’s a story about what people do after.

Bold. Human. Unapologetically real.

About Show

Grief is a Sneaky Bitch creator and host Lisa Keefauver is on a mission to reimagine grief, one conversation at a time.

Yes this is a podcast all about grief. She and her guests explore the expansiveness and pervasiveness of grief in our lives, because let’s face it, 100% of us experience grief, multiple times in our lives. Lisa witnessed it time and time again in her career as a social worker and in her personal life too with the most significant loss being her husband in 2011. More recently, she experienced ambiguous grief as she navigated breast cancer in 2024. And yet, individually, and collectively, we’re so grief-illiterate and that is causing us all harm. So, she's on a mission to reimagine grief, one conversation at a time. So glad you’re joining us.

She brings her deep curiosity, love of conversation, and knowledge of how language and culture shapes our experiences of ourselves and our world (including our grief) to each unscripted conversation. From thought leaders, CEO's and social workers to authors, educators, researchers, filmmakers and stay-at-home moms, her guests open up about the complexity, confusion, and even confidence they have gained by navigating a grief journey of their own.

Welcome to the Life on a Stick podcast with Malin & Tom!

We are the grown-up department of a half-English, half-Swedish adventure family living in our Campervan called Sunny. We're based on the East coast of Sweden, but we embrace the nomadic lifestyle by travelling around Europe, spending our winters in Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands. We've lived this adventurous, free-spirited lifestyle ever since we survived a rough battle with cancer, after Malin was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at just 29 years old.

We've really enjoyed documenting our uncommon lives (including vanlife with 2 young kids, and our journey to beating cancer) on our Youtube channel over the years, and we've now decided to extend our stories into the podcasting world! Welcome to Life on a Stick!

Picture this: it's the day after your 50th birthday. You're on a high from celebrating with friends and family at the weekend, but you're now sat in a doctors office being told you've got an old man's disease.
That was me and the 'old mans disease' is better known as prostate cancer, the third biggest killer of men worldwide. It isn't even remotely restricted to old men.
So here I am talking about my adventures with humour and candour - I honestly couldn't make some of it up. I am not a doctor, I am just here to educate men.
Dragging them kicking, screaming, denying and bitching one heavy step at a time.
Please like, review, subscribe and most importantly share the episode with your friends or a loved one that could be affected.
