Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

As the influence strategist for speakers, authors & experts, Tracy Hazzard helps major publications, sports stars, and entrepreneurs ‘Brandcast’ their original messages. Along with her husband and partner, Tom Hazzard, she has been rethinking brand innovation for over 25 years as an inventor and product designer. Their podcasting innovation, Podetize, provides businesses of all sizes a system to spread their marketing message, grow a valuable audience, and retain valuable platform authority.

Why did you get into podcasting?

Podcasting started as a way to test out the marketability and interest in a new business venture. It was easier than video because at that time live-streaming was only in beta. Video was a lot of editing and effort - with podcasting I didn't have to have my hair done.

How did the idea for the show come about?

Every year I start a new show so that I can see how hard it is for podcasters to build an audience and grow a show and business today. It doesn't serve anyone to be coaching and supporting with outdated models that no longer work.

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

From The Binge Factor, I expect to provide success examples in the podcasting world. Someone who has a story to tell and is three steps ahead of where you might be in your podcasting journey. That way you can better visualize your next step and get inspired or engergized to keep podcasting. Feed Your Brand is the livestream and reshare of our coaching for our clients. We live coach our clients every week addressing topics and questions from all aspects of their business, not just their podcast.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

Like everyone else, the biggest challenge is being consistent and constant. That is why I built in layers of value - showing up for clients and creating content; networking with industry experts and getting client referrals; lead generation testing; guesting and show swapping to show how easy and valuable it is... When we have other parts of our business or community dependent on us to show up, it is easier to keep going and the return on investment from my time and money becomes crystal clear.

How can your listeners support your show?

I don't need y listeners to support me, it is my job to support them. I am more interested in getting someone who needs my content urgently and is willing to binge on my show catalog learning as much as possible. I podcast for them. The flip side of it is that they quote me to others, share my show, and eventually become clients. They support me when I earn it.

Any future plans that you'd like to share?

There is always something new in the works at Podetize. We have the future of AI at work - and have developed deep application use expertise in AI since 2018. You can join our weekly Lab and learn how to enhance your use of AI for marketing. We also have a new show and non-profit in the works. This will support and promote over 700 podcasters each week.

Anything else you'd like to share?

I always love great innovation and have always been a big fan of Goodpods - plus the CEO women of podcasting need to stick together!
