Woman On The Rise

How-to take a big leap for yourself when it feels scary to start something new.

Note: A few days are left to join my online personal stylist training program!

  • Be willing to be a beginner. It’s okay to look like you’re at your beginning. Why? Because even the most successful people had to start somewhere. They too had to start at the beginning. It’s all about putting one foot in-front of the other. Don’t compare your first step to someone’s 1000th. If you trip yourself up thinking that you should be where someone else is after 10 years in business, you need a reality check. Keep that as inspiration in your mind and as drive, but remember that everyone starts at different times. Doesn’t matter how old or young you are. If you have a burning desire in your heart, I believe it was given to you by the divine. You’re meant to do it. Just start. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Baby steps forward.
  • Focus on your why. Why did you want to start? What lights you up? Who do you want to serve? Focus on THAT. That’s what’s important. All of the fears and negativity is just your mind trying to keep you safe. I tell my styling students to think about how people would be impacted if they didn’t learn about you? If you weren’t there to help them? How would that change their life? How much BETTER will their lives be from learning about you and having you help them? Stay in that lane.
  • Write down why it will work. Our brains our messy and love to give us all sorts of stops – but what if things could and WILL work? It’s great to give your brain evidence to support your dreams. Write a list everyday if you need to. I do this. You could write that you’re passionate, you’re dedicated, you’ve got the skill set, you have a point of view that you know will help, etc. Anything and everything you can think of to challenge and flip the script.
  • Dress to be the woman you are becoming. Embodiment is everything. Your brain will literally look at the way you are dressing as evidence that your goals and future are coming to fruition.
  • Make a vision for yourself. Vision boards are so wonderful. Create one and keep that in-front of you every single day. Get in the feeling of your dreams already happening. See it. Taste it. That will help move you forward and help you focus on the bigger picture, not immediate fears that are trying to hold you back.

How-to Become A Personal Stylist

Ever wonder how to become a personal stylist? I'm sharing my story and journey with you as to how I got into this field, as well as tips on how you can get started also.

Tips to get started

1. Get training. This is what separates you from the pack. It's not just about dressing someone in the latest trendy look or putting together a cute outfit. It's about creating an authentic image that represents the individual, their shape, lifestyle, vision, and helping them step into the realm of possibilities.

2. Get ready to work. So many think this is a fun trip to the mall. Ugh, no. If you think that about your business, you'll get nowhere. That's the unsexy truth. You have to be ready to show up, put in time, energy and be consistent when getting started.

3. Come from a place of service. One of the privileges you get to have as a stylist is being a witness to someone's transformation. It's a beautiful. It's heart-warming. It's the good stuff. Always ask how you can go the extra mile or be of service and help to those you are working for. A simple thing, but lots of people ignore this step.

4. Get your name out there. In business, you have to make yourself visible. If people don't know you exist, they can't pay you. Period. You have to push yourself to find ways to talk to your ideal client so that you can help your business grow.

How-to Elevate Your Image

Want to know how to take your image to the next level in business or your personal style?

How-to create your personal style: https://www.fashiontranslated.com/how-to-create-your-personal-style

How-to style your body shape: https://www.fashiontranslated.com/how-to-find-and-dress-your-body-type

  1. Fabrics
  • Fabrics play a bit role in up levelling your image.
  • Ideally, you want to select fabrics that are not only a higher quality, but also compliment your body-shape.
  • For example, draping, flowing fabrics works really well on women with curve. Why? The fabric cascades down the body really nicely. They follow the lines of the body and don’t compete. I show examples of this in my body-type course.
  • But, choosing a higher grade fabric also elevates your energy. There’s a metaphysical aspect to it. This is why I love elevated or designer brands – the quality is better.
  1. This is a massive one. When you get something that fits your body well, you look more expensive. Period. End of story. Why? Cuz it looks like you’re wearing something custom for your body. When something fits you just right – you really stand out. I tell women, if you aren’t willing to alter a piece to make it fit you just right – WHY are you buying it? You’re wasting your money. I don’t care if it’s a thrift find or was $2. Is something a score at $2 because the quality is amazing? No? Then why are you buying it? Sometimes, a $2 shirt looks like a $2 shirt...and if the fit is off on-top of that....yikes.
  • Celebs on the red carpet look SO good, including the guys because things are custom done for them. Not that something needs to be expensive, but when the fit is really nailed, you look like a million dollars. Fit is also important cuz it makes your body-image and self talk flip to the positive. Ever wear something that fits you exactly the way you want? You strut. Smile. Feel confident. It’s worth it.
  1. You need wardrobe basics in timeless cuts to elevate your look. Rather than the basic white tee you hear, I think it’s good to focus on business casual basics. Here me out; These hero's integrated into your closet, when mixed with dressy or casual items, really take things to the next level: trousers, wide-leg pants, blouses, blazer, heels, good bag, etc. Do it in a shot of colour to make it pop? Even better.
  2. Don't have grubby footwear. One way I’ve made myself more mindful of this is to invest in my shoes. Not only does it make me feel a little special to wear an investment shoe, but because I”ve spend more money on it, I take better care of it.
