Ever wonder where to start when working on your style? There are so many things to learn about ourselves! Today, Christie Ressel discusses the BEST place to begin when creating a magnetic style for yourself; through colour analysis. Give the episode a listen to here why over 16 years of helping women get dressed this is true.

The energetics of colour (podcast).

Does knowing your colours limit your style? (check out the video here)

Reasons why colour analysis is the best foundation for your style:

  • Gives you direction when shopping - no overwhelming options from all of the colour selections.
  • Makes you glow 24/7 (ever looked at your partner and thought they were radiant?)- this gets to be your natural state - effortlessly glowing.
  • No more hair or makeup mishaps that make your teeth look yellow or like your hair is sitting like a wig.
  • Gives you an IT factor and edge because you are enhancing your natural colouring.
  • You can break the rules with grace by using colours as a tool. I wear my palette 95% of the time but go rogue when I feel called to with intention.
  • From a vibrational standpoint, it elevates your energy and tells you where you are aligned or blocked energetically.
  • Everything mixes and matches in your closet; no more colour-pairing drama!

Woman On The Rise - 3 Fears Holding You Back From Making Money
play

01/11/21 • 24 min

Want to make more money in your business, but don't know how? There are often 3 culprits that cause this problem for us and end up holding us back from moving forward in our business (and lives). These 3 things can be sneaky and sometimes creep up on us without us even realizing what's happened!

They totally did with me and so I'm sharing with all of you as well incase you find this helpful, too.

  1. Imposter Syndrome. Ever feel like someone is going to think your a fraud and call you out? It's crazy talk, right? It's not true. Yet, every entrepreneur (especially women) have experienced it, myself included. It's so maddening! It has us questioning everything about ourselves and leaves us in a feeling of unworthiness. This low vibe ends up having us creating and sharing less. We aren't serving our people because we're worried someone will say exactly what we've been telling ourselves: that we're not good enough. It's a crazy cycle and one that needs to end because that internal narrative is just not true (and it is all in our minds).
  2. Selling Too Much. Is that a thing? When your money mindset is poor and you don't provide any value, yes. But, I know you give value and help -- so why would you feel bad about an exchange of money in order to help people more deeply? Online feeds move so fast nowadays. It's not possible to assume that EVERYONE has seen what you posted on any given day. Some may see things days or even weeks later -- if at all. Your people who love you and your vibe will want to see everything you create. Those that don't can binge your free content.
  3. Overthinking your prices. OMG, I did this for years. I kept thinking that if I charged what I wanted, no one would buy from me. This lead me down a route of undercharging, working exhausting hours, and extending the life of my side hustle. Not the vibe. The thing I didn't understand is that undercharging doesn't equal more sales. Ever. It just ends up leaving you resentful about what you're doing and burnt out. That kind of energy isn't sustainable or one you want to play in. When you charge the value of what you provide your client and feel good about it, the reward for both parties is equal and leads to a much happier result.

Woman On The Rise - How-to take a leap in faith for yourself
play

08/26/20 • 22 min

How-to take a big leap for yourself when it feels scary to start something new.

Note: A few days are left to join my online personal stylist training program!

  • Be willing to be a beginner. It’s okay to look like you’re at your beginning. Why? Because even the most successful people had to start somewhere. They too had to start at the beginning. It’s all about putting one foot in-front of the other. Don’t compare your first step to someone’s 1000th. If you trip yourself up thinking that you should be where someone else is after 10 years in business, you need a reality check. Keep that as inspiration in your mind and as drive, but remember that everyone starts at different times. Doesn’t matter how old or young you are. If you have a burning desire in your heart, I believe it was given to you by the divine. You’re meant to do it. Just start. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Baby steps forward.
  • Focus on your why. Why did you want to start? What lights you up? Who do you want to serve? Focus on THAT. That’s what’s important. All of the fears and negativity is just your mind trying to keep you safe. I tell my styling students to think about how people would be impacted if they didn’t learn about you? If you weren’t there to help them? How would that change their life? How much BETTER will their lives be from learning about you and having you help them? Stay in that lane.
  • Write down why it will work. Our brains our messy and love to give us all sorts of stops – but what if things could and WILL work? It’s great to give your brain evidence to support your dreams. Write a list everyday if you need to. I do this. You could write that you’re passionate, you’re dedicated, you’ve got the skill set, you have a point of view that you know will help, etc. Anything and everything you can think of to challenge and flip the script.
  • Dress to be the woman you are becoming. Embodiment is everything. Your brain will literally look at the way you are dressing as evidence that your goals and future are coming to fruition.
  • Make a vision for yourself. Vision boards are so wonderful. Create one and keep that in-front of you every single day. Get in the feeling of your dreams already happening. See it. Taste it. That will help move you forward and help you focus on the bigger picture, not immediate fears that are trying to hold you back.

Woman On The Rise - The Biggest Lie We Tell Ourselves About Our Style
play

09/28/20 • 17 min

There is something common women today all utter and it's one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves when it comes to our style: "I have nothing to wear."

Jumpstart Your Style: https://www.fashiontranslated.com/jumpstart-your-style

Join me on Instagram @ChristieRessel, YouTube, or Facebook.

  1. Too much “stuff” in the closet. You need to-do a good purge and inventory check on what’s there. If you have different sizes, times in your life, stuff you tell yourself you’ll wear again – you don’t have a true picture of what you’re actually working with.
  2. I have nothing to wear REALLY means, “I’m not inspired to wear anything” – time to get inspired! Watch movies with great fashion, blogs, videos, books. Etc. They will spark your interest and influence you to produce something you think is fun.
  3. You haven’t taken the time to experiment. This is the biggest culprit. It’s like we think our clothing will throw a new outfit at us in the morning, and if it doesn’t? We settle for the same combo we always wear. Then we get BORED. So we buy instead of get creative (not that buying is bad, I love a good shopping moment). But shopping doesn’t solve the problem because that new piece will eventually become stale and then we’re back to the drawing board. See what I’m saying? Spend some time getting creative. Match tops and bottoms together you never have or use colourful accessories to bring other colour combos together in your closet you’ve never thought of. My Jumpstart Your Style program is the PERFECT solution for those that need to shake up their closet. It gives you amazing journaling prompts, tutorials and exercises to show you how to crack open your closet AND create new outfits you love. PLUS, you see so many other women in the private community for this program doing the same thing and processing these same exercises, so the inspiration and creativity is next level.

Take some time to play, be intentional and watch the outfit possibilities blossom.

Woman On The Rise - The Reason You're In A Style Rut
play

Feel like you're in a style rut? Like you've lost yourself somehow and can't figure out how to stop putting on leggings in the morning?

So many women tell me the same thing. This is where I come in. He-he.

I’m here to give you some tough love today and give you some reasons why you’ve in a style rut.

  1. Guilt. This is a big one. So many women experience guilt when thinking of taking time for themselves instead of looking after their kids, business, partner, friends, commitments, etc. They often look at their style as a frivolous thing that can come as an after thought. NO. Taking time to create a style that makes you feel cute and put together when you look in the mirror puts you in a higher vibration. It not only gives you time to give back to yourself so that you can feel good, but when you do, that higher energy you’re experiencing goes back ten fold to those around you. You’re happier, more productive, and filled with possibilities. If you’re a business owner – think about how feeling good, productive, and filled with possibilities – how that energy could transform your day and the clients you attract in your business? That’s a big thing to pay attention to.
  2. You hide behind the excuse that leggings are easy to slip on. Now this may hurt, but this excuse is one that comes up all of the time and I gotta tell you, it’s lazy. It takes the same amount of effort to put your legs into a pair of leggings, as it does pants (actually, maybe even MORE effort as some of those babies are tight!). Being that that’s the case, it really comes down to a choice you’re making. You’re still deciding that the leggings are more worth it to you. It’s easier to complain about wearing the leggings than actually doing something about them. But the thing is, if you want a different result, you have to-do something different. Nothing changes if nothing changes. No one is going to drag your butt to the closet in the morning and make you change into a more up-levelled outfit that communicates something better. You have to choose that for yourself. So if you aren’t, why are you holding yourself back? Because this type of behaviour can be a form of self sabotage. It can really take from your self-worth and create some negative self-talk because you don’t like what you see the in the mirror. You style isn’t communicating what a beautiful bad-ass you are. Let’s do something about that.
  3. You buy without using what you’ve got. Now, hear me out. I love a good shopping moment. I love it so much in-fact that I made it a career LOL! But, if it’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that you need to be strategic about what you put into your closet and also get creative with the things that are there. Women tell me all the time that they have “nothing to wear” and it’s one of the things I love proving people wrong with. Your closet is always chalk filled with outfit potential if you just spend a little time. Yes, it takes effort, yes it takes time (which I know we can feel short on), but the payback is worth it. You will end the ridiculous cycle of buying for the purpose of just wanting something “new” in your closet and switch to buying pieces that add value and more to your personal style. More outfit possibilities. My Jumpstart program is so good and helping you see what’s there – and helps you see that you don’t need a full makeover to up level your style. Sometimes you just need a fresh way of looking at things! So, my program gives you a really detailed workbook filled with things to journal on, and lots of strategies and exercises that will help you go through your closet. You also get 14 videos from me that are LIVE so you can ask me things along the way and be with like minded women looking to level up and get intentional.

Woman On The Rise - The Power Of Choosing Yourself
play

12/21/20 • 18 min

A lot of the time, we can hold ourselves back in our style, business and life, because we often worry about seeking the approval of others.

The little girl inside of us is often making sure we “fit in” and are loved and accepted by our peers – so often time that can come in the form of self sabotage in making sure that our aesthetic, tastes and desire don’t seem ‘too far out there’ to others.

This is something that comes up a lot in my classes. Women share with me that their partners, friends, or family have made comments about what they wear – and instantly go from a high energy, feel good place, to one of disappointment and vulnerable.

I’m going to talk about how to embrace getting dressed for yourself and why it’s important you choose yourself over others in style (and life).

  1. You will feel powerful when you magnify your essence in your clothing.
  2. It’s okay that your style isn’t like everyone else’s – that’s what style is all about. Remember that. People commenting doesn’t mean anything about YOU – it’s about them. Hubby is different than me
  3. It’s okay to set-up boundaries and tell people it’s not okay to comment. This increases you feeling empowered and embracing YOU.
