The ANA Championship in Review & A look at the US Open
09/18/20 • 57 min
We have Karen Stupples, on-course analyst for the Golf Channel and a former LPGA player and past winner of the AIG Women's Open Championship as a our guest this week. She joins us from Oregon where she is covering the LPGA's Cambia Portland Classic.
We look back at the exciting week that was the LPGA's second major championship of the abbreviated season - the ANA Inspiration hosted by the Mission Hills course in Palm Springs, California. After a final Sunday in which the two co-leaders, Nelly Korda and Brooke Henderson traded "blows", Mirim Lee of South Korea quietly went about her business, chipping in on 3 occasions, including an Eagle Chip on the last hole of the tournament to tie for the lead.
Korda came to the 18th needing a birdie to win the tournament outright which would have been her first major victory. She mustered par resulting a tie for first place with Mirim Lee. Henderson meanwhile, smashed two shots to get onto the island green. With a chip close to the hole, Henderson managed to make birdie, getting herself into the playoff as well.
We also look at the USGA US Open Championship that is being held at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamoronek, New York. Karen shares her insights into who she thinks the key players to watch and who may be the players with the best chance to hold the trophy on Sunday.
