"We did this out of love to protect sheep. Exposing the darkness to the light is how it happens." - Lori Adams-Brown

Some of you have a story to tell that you’ve never told anyone.

And some of you are wondering if that story should find it’s way to a journalist.

Where would you go?

How does that even work?

What all goes into the process and what do you need to know to make it out on the other side?

Today I’m joined by two friends who answer those questions as we pull back the curtain to show you what it’s like to go on the record for a journalist.

Lori Adams-Brown and Lori Harding are two courageous women who have gone on the record with journalist Julie Roys to share their stories of abuse in the church. In this episode:

1. How they decided to go public with their story of abuse. What was the process like? What were their concerns? How did they navigate the process? 2. The role of investigative journalism in exposing the darkness and restoring the church: How did they choose a reporter? What were the expectations? What was the interview process like? 3. The consequences of speaking out: How did they prepare for the backlash? What were some of the criticisms they faced?

Untangled Faith - Coming Soon: Season 4 of Untangled Faith
play

02/03/22 • 6 min

I've been doing a deep dive on all things grief. This makes me super fun at parties. This season, I hope to walk us through the stages of grief. These are stages that are squishy. They bleed into each other. We don't process grief in a way that allows us to check off boxes finishing one stage and moving on to the next. And many of us are dealing with several losses simultaneously. Loss of faith community. Loss of relationships. Loss of a dream you had that died. Whatever the loss, it's worth honoring by taking a moment to pay attention. Join me for the upcoming season Untangled Faith where we tackle the topic of grief. Coming February 9th. This episode was initially recorded in May 2022 shortly after the leak about a possible decision on Roe v. Wade from the Supreme Court in the US. There was a lot of chatter and I wanted to have a conversation with Emily Snook for my Patreon Community.

In light of the official decision announced today, June 24, 2022, I wanted to share this with everyone and Emily agreed.

So, if it sounds like we didn't know for sure what would happen with the Supreme Court, it's because we recorded this before the decision was announced.
