In this episode, we have invited Tom, a brave person battling floxed condition. Under Dr. Hugh’s meticulous care, Tom is currently recovering at a steady rate prior to his careful medication. Today, Tom sheds light on the cruelty in the medical world and his resilience to free himself from the shackles of pain and suffering.
Dawn of Tragedy
Tom was involved in an accident at the end of January. A tree branch hit his head inflicting post-concussion syndrome and sinus infection—eventually ruptured his eardrums after four weeks.
He called his family doctor to diagnose his condition and was given a 10-day levofloxacin prescription. He was doing well until he experienced suffering worse than his concussion. He did the responsible thing to go to his family doctor’s office where he was diagnosed as bipolar—he was gaslighted.
Gaslighting is a psychological term where medical professional downplay your symptoms. Tom was not crazy but he was treated as such by the medical personnel. After an arduous defense about his personality for months, he concluded to not talk about any mental health issues with the medical community—he will be regarded as crazy if he does and it will be a glaring mark to his medical history.
Tom went to a doctor from a major university where she was able to alleviate some of his woes. He commended her job but it only went so far. He felt violated talking about her cognitive issues until he was able to find Dr. Hugh—now feeling a lot better.
Consequences

[08:16]
Her wife was overtaxed with work and his condition. It was a stressful situation for both of them, emotionally and mentally. Tom ended up creating a poem—while laying in a dark room.

[09:52]
Tom’s condition affected his business and personal life. As the months went by, Tom channeled a positive outlook where he made the decision to work towards a healthy lifestyle.
[12:42]
Having a huge plot of land, he went to hike and travel to numerous states. With the help of his friends, he became more productive and active daily.
Stability
[17:58]
Tom cancelled his appointment to a psychologist—he was doing better. He refrained from a psychologist because he does not want to be given another drug that would potentially make things worse. He was already happy and recovering with the assistance of a functional medicine doctor like Dr. Hugh.
[20:25]
With things moving at the right direction, Tom needs more time and he would be better than before the incident.
Spreading the Word
[23:49]

In this episode, Dr. Hugh Wegwerth talks about everything we need to know about magnesium, IV magnesium drip, what magnesium does in our body, and the critical protocols we need to consider before taking magnesium into our bodies. If you are suffering from any kind of chronic condition or just want to generally improve your lifestyle, this episode is for you. Stay tuned!
The Importance of Magnesium
[3:17]
Magnesium regulates calcium. It helps relax muscles. It's in energy production and it's required for over 300 energy production reactions.
Energy Reactions in Your Body
[3:36]
If you've been floxed, it damages the mitochondria, fluoroquinolones, DNA, and affects your ability to produce ATP.
[3:44]
If your ability to produce ATP is blocked, you're going to have lots of problems when it comes to recovering, regulating heart tractability, and relaxing smooth muscle.
[4:05]
Your energy production has been severely damaged due to the fluoroquinolones and the DNA has been damaged and inability to produce energy.
Magnesium Deficiency
[4:57]
Magnesium deficiency is having too much calcium to come into the cell. When calcium rushes into your cell, it causes your cell to contract.
[5:12]
Women need to stop taking calcium. Women are over calcified. Calcium is not your problem. It's if you're inflamed, then you're going to have osteoporosis. Balance between magnesium and calcium should occur in your cells.
Symptoms of Magnesium Deficiency
[5:30]
These are all the symptoms of magnesium deficiency: headaches, nervousness, jumpiness, migraines, cramps, muscle pain, heart problems, GI problems, nausea, vomiting, urinary tract cramps, tingling, and numbness.
How Chemistry Works in Your Cells
[6:33]
Every cell in your body has roughly between 502,000 mitochondria, specifically to produce energy. So in each cell, there's literally 2000 of these mitochondria to produce energy.
[6:53]
All this magnesium needs to get in and start producing energy in the mitochondria. And that's where energy is produced.
[7:01]
Magnesium is needed for the cell to start reproducing its own DNA. You can see that the magnesium is very critical when it comes to your body.
Magnesium Glycinate
[8:26]
You want to take anywhere from one to seven scoops per day. The only side effect of taking it is loose stools. Put a scoop in the way then for three or four hours you sip this with the magnesium slowly. Why is it critical? It is because of the nutrients you get from the drinking magnesium glycinate. You can also add some flavoring into the water like lemons or any vitamin C emergency packet.
[9:40]
Then you do the same thing in the afternoon. One scoop, put your flavor in or just just drink it with water and then at night you do the same thing. What's happening here is you're providing your mitochondria with a constant flow of magnesium.
