Today we are joined by a former professional baseball player, Independent film producer and Head of Content for Diamante Media Group, Zack Parker. Zack grew up near Austin, Texas and started his baseball career at a community college near there. He was draft-and-followed by the Rockies (which we explain on the episode), and he spent many years in the minors trying to make it to the big leagues. He was dominant in his early career and we discuss the game that really took him to the next level. We cover his stint in independent ball and how that brought back the joy of baseball for him, as well as his time playing in Taiwan and how that season led him to film. He returned to Texas to go to film school at UT which eventually helped bring him to Los Angeles. Zack talks about his extremely successful and award winning indy film, "Thunder Road", that he toured the world showing after it's success here in the states. He worked for MLB star, Trevor Bauer, at his media company Momentum for a short time before transitioning to Diamante Media Group out here in So Cal. We spend some time on the visionary Bauer and how he has become a positive disruptor in a sport that doesn't market it's stars...Enjoy the episode, and please don't forget to subscribe, RATE 5 STARS on Apple Podcasts and leave a great review if you like what you hear!Follow me:Instagram: @tootallsportspodcastTwitter: @TooTallSportsFacebook: Too Tall Sports PodcastSpotify: Too Tall Sports PodcastYouTube: Too Tall Sports PodcastEmail: [email protected] Learn more about your ad choices. One of my favorite, and in depth episodes so far in terms of peeling back the layers in sports psychology. My long time friend Bernie Holliday, (who helped me for a few of my professional baseball years), shows you why the mental game is so important in sports and daily life. We discuss his unlikely journey from coaching tennis, to training soldiers and cadets at West Point, and his transition from working with the Army to professional baseball. Lots of great concepts and examples of what he does to get athletes ready to perform at the highest level every night. Let me know what you think and what you took from this episode! Today's "Too Sense" segment relates to our guest today from Pittsburgh aka Western P.A. - The Pittsburgh Pirates aka The "Pittsburgh Prospects" continue to make moves and give away their talent with recent trades like the Adam Frazier deal to the Padres. They have a history of selling their star players and not paying homegrown talent... I go OFF on them in this segment because as a former minor leaguer for them, I know how this small minded/small market organization works... Let me know what you think! Send me a message on my social media platforms. @tootallsportspodcast Our interview today features former NFL QB, Gus Frerotte!Gus is also a podcaster and hosts a show called "Huddle Up With Gus"- We discuss his upbringing in Western Pennsylvania, and the hard-nosed culture of quarterback toughness there.- His college days at the University of Tulsa- Getting drafted by the Washington Football Team in 1994- Stories from early training camp days- His famous head butt, celebration incident- Being part of a 99 yard touchdown play- Coaching Zeke Elliot in High School- Life after football as a podcasterFollow Gus: @HuddleUpWithGusGus's Podcast: https://www.huddleupwithgus.com/--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a sponsor!!!Want the best sports betting picks texted directly to your phone every day?I have the answer and it's Vegas Sports Advantage.A proud sponsor of the Too Tall Sports PodcastLink Here:https://www.vegassportsadvantage.com?ref=tootall25% OFF Your favorite Sports Picks Package by using the link above or using thePROMO CODE: TOOTALL--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Follow Me and SUBSCRIBE, LIKE and COMMENT on the Too Tall Sports Podcast:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOT1dawh_079qckq7OmFHAQInstagram: @tootallsportspodcastTwitter: @TooTallSportsFacebook Group: TooTallSportsPodcastApple Podcasts: Too Tall Sports PodcastSpotify: Too Tall Sports Podcasthttps://www.diamantenetwork.com/network/brettlorinPandora: https://www.pandora.com/podcast/too-tall-sports-podcast/PC:52128https://www.vegassportsadvantage.com?ref=tootallEmail: tootallsportspodcast@gmail.comhttps://linktr.ee/TooTallSportsPodcast 25% OFF with Promo Code: TOOTALL This podcast is brought to you by Vegas Sports Advantage. Today I sit down with my friend and former teammate, Tim Alderson. Tim played his high school ball in Arizona and was a High School All American. He was drafted in the first round by the San Francisco Giants back in 2007... He was on the fast track in the minor leagues until a trade to the Pirates changed the course of his promising career. He and I examine our experiences coming over from different organizations and being traded to Pittsburgh in the same season. I had the opportunity to sit down with San Diego Padres broadcaster and on-field reporter, Bob Scanlan. The former major leaguer joins me today to discuss his early days growing up in Los Angeles and being a high school draft pick in professional baseball. Bob was traded for the "Wild Thing" Mitch Williams from Philly to the Chicago Cubs, and he explains what it was like to make it to the Big Leagues in the "Windy City". We cover what it was like this year in 2020, and how the logistics of baseball were conquered by MLB. The Padres had an amazing season, earning the moniker "Slam Diego", and were an incredibly fun team to watch this year. Bob tells us just how great Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. really are, and how they work every day to perfect their craft on the field. We also discuss the art of pitching and what he looks for in guys as he analyzes during a game. Finally, Bob tells us about his tough road to becoming a broadcaster and how he had to really put in the work at the lower minor league levels to become a confident on-air talent. Please enjoy, and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE, RATE 5 STARS and REVIEW on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and Spotify.Follow Bob Scanlan on Twitter: @heyscanFollow Me: Twitter: @TooTallSportsInstagram: @tootallsportspodcastWatch The Show On YouTube: Search - Too Tall Sports PodcastEmail: [email protected] Learn more about your ad choices.
