Part of me didn't want to share this podcast with you- part of me wants to hide it and pretend everything is just fine. No one is Pollyanna all the time- no one is 100% motivated and "game on" all the time. As women though, we put these unrealistic expectations on ourselves -we think we need to act like everything is perfect - show the world everything is awesome- no worries...everything is good over here- didn't you see all my Instagram stories???- I look happier than I've ever been.
Social media has done a real number on making us think we need to hide the ugly parts of life ... if we show our struggles, it's a sign of weakness or somehow a reflection of being “less than '' But that's not the case. I had a collection of mini things that added up over the past few months that led to me being in a mucky funk.
Today I'm sharing what got me into this funk and more importantly - what I’m doing about it! This one is about as real as it gets....

What the heck is in the food I'm eating???
One of my favorite offerings at Authentic Wellness is Food and Environmental Sensitivity / Intolerance testing. Most often people request this test because they are experiencing painful and uncomfortable digestive issues, belching, bloating, constipation, headaches, breathing issues, rashes and skin irritations....they want answers. They want to know if it’s something they are putting in their body that is causing these uncomfortable symptoms. If they know what it is-they can take it out and feel better.
The follow-up meetings are always incredibly interesting. Often, people are surprised with the items listed that are not as straightforward as Eggs, Almonds, Black Pepper or Strawberries. The things that catch folks off guard are the items on their list that are genetically modified in some way, or the preservatives and additives in the food and drinks they consume, the coloring dyes, the chemicals that have these crazy long names, the “substitute foods - all those sugar substitutes or alternatives - or the chemicals that are part of their skin care, home cleaning products or make up.... All of the things that are added to products to make them more appealing - changing the consistency, or color, or taste or smell.....those are the things that are the things that surprise people. Usually the response is- I don't even know how to say that word let alone know what it is???? How do I know it’s in my food or in the products I am using....

“Missy? What are GMOs and should I be eating them? What's the deal with the coloring and dyes? What the heck is in the food I’m eating???”
