Video killed the radio star, then slideshare; so how to share your presentations?
The UnNoticed Entrepreneur
10/21/20 • 1 min
This year SlideShare has been absorbed by Scribd; so what can we use to share and promote presentation? Scribd can be used for the purpose of uploading eBooks, PDFs, ePubs and various other types of documents apart from presentations.
The rapid growth of SlideShare from a small startup to a top website began in 2009, in a tiny room in India, when Amit Rajan, Rashmi Sinha, and Jonathan Boutelle saw the need for a "YouTube for presentations." Within a few years, they had built a network of 38 million registered users by providing a desperately needed tool—and a new social channel for presentations.
Sadly, that era is over and what was the best place to share presentations and gain new viewers is disappearing behind a paywall. Video killed the radio star, and quite possibly slideshare too.
However, if you are looking for simpler sharing platforms explore the following:

The 5 stages of building a tribe, and 8 elements of telling the story of the tribe.
The UnNoticed Entrepreneur
09/14/20 • 1 min
Communication by the leader of any tribe is the foundation for success because without everyone understanding the vision and the purpose of the tribe it is destined to fail. On this episode, I share the 5 stages an organization passes through on the path from crowd to the tribe, and 8 essential elements for the language of the tribe to resonate within and beyond the organization.
Trailer for the full show here
Seth Godin says, “A crowd is a tribe without a leader. A crowd is a tribe without communication. Most organizations spend their time marketing to the crowd. Smart organizations assemble the tribe."
The Five Stages of Workplace “Tribes,” by DAVE LOGAN AND HALEE FISCHER-WRIGHT, AUTHORS OF TRIBAL LEADERSHIP: LEVERAGING NATURAL GROUPS TO BUILD A THRIVING ORGANIZATION
• Stage One: These tribes are distinguished by hostility and despair. Their members say things like "Life sucks."
• Stage Two: These tribes are characterized by apathy and a sense of futility. They don't try, they don't care, they don't innovate, they don't hold one another accountable for anything, and they revel in their disengagement. Their members say things like "My life sucks."
• Stage Three: Tribal members are selfish at this stage. They are in it for themselves, and they are extremely averse to collaboration. Their attitude is "I'm great . . . and you're not."
• Stage Four: Tribe members have a sense of shared values; they willingly share knowledge and collaborate. Stage-four tribes are extremely competitive, but their competitive focus shifts to other tribes or companies. These tribes believe that "We're great . . . and they're not."
• Stage Five: Tribes that attain this rare level are characterized by a sense of "innocent wonderment." They apply themselves to the creation of things no one has dreamed of and are frequently incredibly successful. These tribes say that "Life is great."

You're insulting people if you are not taking care of their Anthroponymy, and could be losing 31% of sales.
The UnNoticed Entrepreneur
09/24/20 • 1 min
Anthroponymy (or anthroponomastics) is the study of the names of human beings, and it is essential to create personalization at scale. Danny Levinson, CEO at Transformania is enabling companies to abide by GDPR whilst creating personalised data led marketing campaigns.
Why is this important? According to a report by Stanford Business School, ' that personalizing the emails, while adding no informative content about the product or the company, benefits the advertisers. ..., we find that adding the name of the message recipient to the email’s subject-line increases the probability of the recipient opening it by 20%, which translates to an increase in sales leads by 31% and a reduction in the number of individuals unsubscribing from the email campaign by 17%.

Is your signage as stale as an old loaf? If so your business could be toast!
The UnNoticed Entrepreneur
08/24/20 • 1 min
One near-universal law of psychology is habituation, which means that we stop noticing things we see or hear many times. This applies to company signage too, and as we come out of COVID lockdown we need to refresh the signage which we use to promote our business and to educate staff, partners and customers.
Research by the University of Cincinnati showed tangible improvements in business due to signage upgrades by up to 10%. This means that to gain attention we need to keep our signage fresh to avoid habituation, but that the costs should pay for themselves.

What did Amanda Gorman and the 192,000 flags at the Biden Inauguration say about how to use power of words and symbolism during a time of crisis management?
The UnNoticed Entrepreneur
01/20/21 • 12 min
Where can we find light in this never-ending shade? This will become a phrase etched in everyone's mind as the counterpoint to the Biden inauguration, and the amazing display of eloquence and presence by the poet laureat Amanda Gorman. However, there was a lot more going on that day including the placement of 192,00 flags representing all 56 American states and territories. This episode includes a recording of "The Hill We Climb" which when heard rather than watched is all the more impactful. I share this because firstly it comes as a massive relief to have inspiration from the other side of the pond instead of consternation, but also because it gives great guidance to everyone about the power of words, symbols and the need to let new generations articulate the future vision whilst older leaders play the role of mentors and facilitators. This is exactly what we talk about in the SPEAK|pr program.
Here is a transcript of her inaugural poem, “The Hill We Climb.”
When day comes we ask ourselves,
