The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast
08/16/20 • 46 min
One day you wake up and have a dream. Maybe it's to start a business, become a certified yoga instructor, or finally move to Paris. At first, you think it's a fluke, but then that dream begins to visit you every freaking day. You daydream about croissants, you sign up for an online yoga class, you talk to your creative entrepreneur friend and pick her brain about how she started it all.
After weeks/months/years of doing a ton of research and weighing the pros and cons you finally gather up the courage to start doing the work. You're networking, showing your work, pitching, learning, you're in love with your dream. But then things start happening--the rejection letters start to pour in, sales are slow, you don't book clients. Things are tough. You love your dream but the sacrifices and losses are starting to add up. That passion and enthusiasm you had for your dream, in the beginning, is gone baby gone. So you fall back. You stop showing up consistently, you stop doing the work. You lose sight of your dream and it sucks big time. The good news? You can always get your dreams back + make a big comeback.
In today's episode, we're talking about what happens when you fall out of love with your dreams, how to get that passion back, and have your biggest comeback yet!

Quick Tip #52 What Made You Smile Today?
The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast
09/14/22 • 9 min
I am a recovering chronic worrier.
Yep, I’m one of those people that constantly worries about every little thing. 🥴
Want to know my secret weapon that stops worry dead in its tracks? Gratitude.
You know the old saying-- “interrupt anxiety with gratitude”? Welp, it’s true. So true, that I decided to keep a gratitude journal to help me appreciate all the good that was in my life.
The thing is that after a while, I started to notice how stale my gratitudes were. My journal was littered with the usual suspects; “Lord I thank you for my home, my health, my car, etc.” while I’m truly grateful for all those things, it was starting to give Blah.
That is until Jessica L. Williams from Tech Biz Girl suggested I start writing down all the things that made me smile that day. Small adjustment but a total game changer.
In today's #Quick Tip, we're talking about the powering of taking some time to look back at what made you smile and how it helps step your gratitude game all the way up.

Episode No. 142 Big Lessons Series: You Are On Your Own Timeline
The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast
10/09/22 • 34 min
There is this unspoken rule that you have to hit certain milestones by a certain age:
- You have to be married, have at least one kid and a house by the time you turn 25
- be established in your career and make a big bag by 30
- be on the 40 under 40 lists, well, before you turn 40
This timeline is cute, but we all know that life doesn't work out all nice and neatly like that. For some of us, life be straight up life-ing. And there is just no way everybody can keep up with this timeline.
Maybe you’re 35 and still don’t have kids yet. 23, and you’re still trying to figure out if college is right for you. What if you’re single and live in the city and a house hasn’t even crossed your mind yet?
Where does this arbitrary timeline leave the folks that aren’t hitting these supposed milestones on time? Welp, it leaves everyone feeling stressed tf because there's this immense pressure to have it all and have it NOW.
Know how I know? Well, because I've been a late bloomer my entire life. I didn't buy a house until I was 36. I JUST had my first baby at the ripe "old" age of 37. Heck, I didn't even learn how to drive and buy my first car until I was 27.
I used to feel like a complete failure because I was so "behind". That is until I had the realization that I am in charge of my own damn life. That I get to make up my own rules and live life on the timeline I create.
In today's episode, we're exploring how to release ourselves from the pressure to be "on time" and how to start living our lives on our own terms.

Episode No. 90 Creating Healthy Digital Habits + Boundaries
The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast
06/21/20 • 51 min
My phone is always in my hands. First thing in the morning, as I work, when I work out, and when I’m falling asleep, I am super glued to my phone. And as you can imagine living like that is a total gift and a curse.
On one hand I get to stay connected with my family that's back in Detroit thanks to FaceTime. I've been blessed to meet so many incredible people, create a business, and share my voice with the world because of technology. But baby that curse? It's a CURSE!
My chronic phone, tv, computer, iPad usage is wearing your girl out. I'm always tired, always cranky, always comparing myself to others. I'm distracted and always feel like I'm running on empty. Why? Well because chronic screen time use causes anxiety, depression, disturbances in concentration, and even sleeping.
And guess what? I am OVER IT!
I am over letting my phone control my life. So what did I do? I dug down deep and figured out why I was so attached to my phone. And guess what, it had a lot to do with avoiding the work that can get me closer to my dreams. Can you say #SelfSabotage? And then I created some digital boundaries for myself.
I haven't completely kicked my phone addiction to the curb but I am more intentional about how I use it and for how long. If you're tired of letting your phone dictate your moves and moods then it might be time to create some healthy digital habits + boundaries in your internet life. Check out this week's episode to learn how!

Episode No. 85 Releasing Yourself From The Pressure Of Doing
The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast
03/29/20 • 39 min
For the past few weeks, I've been trying to do all the things. You should see my to-do list, it's hella long with home projects, blog updates, and business ideas. Your girl thought she was going to use this quarantine time to play catch up + get her hustle on. Did that happen? Absolutely NOT!
I had not a clue just how hard + how deeply the C-word would affect my mental health. Like most of us, I've been grappling with so many unexpected emotions that I had to sit my ass down somewhere. I tried my hardest to still myself and let me just be, but there was a huge part of me that felt incredibly guilty for not doing more. There was this daily pressure that I kept putting on myself to do. To produce. Create. Strategize. Show up on Instagram. But I just couldn't do any of it. All I wanted to do was binge-watch Tiger King, sleep, eat, cry, pray, journal + FaceTime my homies. You know, all those very human things we tend to do when we're overwhelmed, mourning + and searching for comfort and answers.
The crazy thing is that I wasn't the only person that felt this pressure. Whenever I hopped on social media everyone on my timeline said that they felt guilty for not being in super productive, goal-getter mode. But I thought to myself “who the hell said we had to be "on" during this pandemic anyway? We're in uncharted territory here so why can't we rest? Why can't we chill? Why are we feeling bad for feeling scared? Why can't we just go to Instagram live parties + not feel guilty about it?"
I have a pretty good idea why. It's because we've bought into this idea that we're machines. That we can push through, roll up our sleeves + do the work no matter what, even a global pandemic. Well, the earth ain't having it. Homegirl is forcing us to sit down, be still, stay home, catch up on sleep, and reflect. What she's not asking as to do? To be "on" and crossing 9 million things off of our to-do list, if we don't have the actual capacity to do so.
If you've been feeling super guilty for not coming up with a multimillion-dollar idea, or creating 19 blog posts, or not getting back into the shape of your life during COVID19 then today I'm sharing some ways that you can release the pressure of doing, so you can get back to taking care + honoring the whole of you. Yes, even the part of you that's been wearing the same PJs for the past 3 days.
