The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast - Episode No. 142 Big Lessons Series: You Are On Your Own Timeline

Episode No. 142 Big Lessons Series: You Are On Your Own Timeline

10/09/22 • 34 min

The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast

There is this unspoken rule that you have to hit certain milestones by a certain age:

  • You have to be married, have at least one kid and a house by the time you turn 25
  • be established in your career and make a big bag by 30
  • be on the 40 under 40 lists, well, before you turn 40

This timeline is cute, but we all know that life doesn't work out all nice and neatly like that. For some of us, life be straight up life-ing. And there is just no way everybody can keep up with this timeline.

Maybe you’re 35 and still don’t have kids yet. 23, and you’re still trying to figure out if college is right for you. What if you’re single and live in the city and a house hasn’t even crossed your mind yet?

Where does this arbitrary timeline leave the folks that aren’t hitting these supposed milestones on time? Welp, it leaves everyone feeling stressed tf because there's this immense pressure to have it all and have it NOW.

Know how I know? Well, because I've been a late bloomer my entire life. I didn't buy a house until I was 36. I JUST had my first baby at the ripe "old" age of 37. Heck, I didn't even learn how to drive and buy my first car until I was 27.

I used to feel like a complete failure because I was so "behind". That is until I had the realization that I am in charge of my own damn life. That I get to make up my own rules and live life on the timeline I create.

In today's episode, we're exploring how to release ourselves from the pressure to be "on time" and how to start living our lives on our own terms.

Episode No. 141 The Gift Of Thank You

When was the last time you stopped and said thank you? Now before you answer, I’m not talking about the time you said “thank you” to the person that held the door for you at Starbucks. No mayum- I want to know when was the last time you said thank you to you? Have you ever stopped for a second and thanked your past for all the lessons you learned? What about the present? Do you ever just sit and feel appreciative for all the good that is going on in the now? And your future-- do you ever just say thank you for the things that haven’t happened yet but that you’re believing God for? In today’s episode, we’re talking about the power of thank you. And how embracing a gesture of gratitude can help you stay motivated and keep going towards those God-given dreams of yours.
