Hello my friends! Welcome back to another episode of the On Fire Empire Podcast. It’s been a while since our last episode.... but like all good things, they’re worth the wait! This episode and all others that follow with be brought to you in both audio and video.

Today I brought my old campaign sign in from when I ran for city council (and won!) back in ...well... just a few short years ago. Today, I have Lori Stone joining me in the studio. Lori is the sister of former California Senator Jeff Stone – and now she’s running for elected office. I also have Rachael Bennett, Esq. chatting with me about the interview. We reminisce about what Rachael experienced during the time I ran and how that affected her career. We’re talking women in leadership, social experiments in homelessness (Lori learned first hand what it was to be a homeless woman on the street for a day), and a few surprises you won’t want to miss.

Episode #40 – What to Do If You or Someone You Love is Sheltering in Place With an Abuser

Text us your feedback or questions - we'd love to hear from you.

Hi, friends! Welcome to another episode of the On Fire Empire Podcast. During these challenging times with COVID-19, where our day-to-day has been disrupted, and we’re doing things in a whole new way as we work through this worldwide pandemic we thought we’d change it up for the podcast. We’re bringing you both audio and video.

During these times, there is something that continues to happen at home. It’s a topic a lot of people don’t want to talk about, but we need to talk about it. That is the topic of abuse and domestic violence. More than ever with people sheltering in place, many folks who are the victims of controller abusers are now isolated and completely locked into place with that abuser.
Whether you are one of those folks who are experiencing domestic violence, control and/or any other form of abuse within your home, or your children are, or if you’re a friend, or family, or a neighbor and you might be hearing things, or you’re aware that there have been some problems with someone you love in the past, this episode is for YOU.
In today’s episode, I’m bringing you my interview with Katie Gilbertson. Katie is phenomenal! She works within the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office in their Victim Services Unit, overseeing what we call the S.A.F.E. Family Justice Centers. S.A.F.E. is a non-profit organization here in southern California that partners with our courts. S.A.F.E. stands for Safe Alternatives For Everyone.
S.A.F.E. is a domestic violence education, prevention, and intervention agency. I’ve known and worked with them for years and they are amazing people, as are those within our District Attorney’s Office. You’re going to hear from Katie today as we talk about this issue and what this season of domestic violence looks like. Katie and I talk about what’s happening in homes, what you can do if you are a victim of domestic violence, or if you’re concerned that it may be escalating within your home, and what you can do as a loved one, as a family member, as a concerned neighbor, and as a friend.

Episode #42 – “You’re Enough, Already!” How to Combat Imposter Syndrome with Judge Sherrill Ellsworth

Text us your feedback or questions - we'd love to hear from you.

Hey friends! Welcome back to the On Fire Empire Podcast. If you caught last month’s episode, you’ll know we’re presenting all episodes in video format every month.

A lot of us are talking about our goals and our objectives for 2021. The other thing that I hear about is a bit of hesitation from our women leaders and influencers.
Are you second-guessing yourself – asking questions like “Can I be that bold with my goals?” “Can I really be that audacious with my goals?” ... and a little bit of self-doubt creeps in. That self-doubt goes to a whole new level; where it stops you from taking action. A lot of that is driven by this phenomenon that’s been around for a long time.
And we all suffer from it in one shape or form. It’s called Imposter Syndrome. Today, I’m interviewing my longtime friend and my former colleague in the law, retired judge Sherrill Ellsworth. We’re talking about Imposter Syndrome, women needing to believe in themselves, think about those things that hold us back, and embracing those hurdles head-on. Sherrill is a past presiding judge of the Riverside County Superior Court. Over the years I even appeared in front of her. Oh yes, we’ve gone toe to toe... or bench to bench if in the courtroom. Later on, after she retired, we became business partners.
First as an attorney and then becoming elevated to the bench, she was one of the youngest bench officers ever. She served nearly 20 years! Today we’re talking about Imposter Syndrome. I think you’re really going to enjoy what Judge Ellsworth has to say because we’ve both been there and we both overcome some serious hurdles. She’s brilliant, very insightful and I know you’re going to love her.
