Are you struggling to reach the level of success you desire? Yes? So then, what do you need to do to be successful? Three key things.

If you have felt overwhelmed with growing your business, you must have asked the question, what do you need to do to be successful? The fact is, there are three crucial components to entrepreneurial success. The most important is a positive mindset.

The three things you need to succeed

A positive mindset, strategy, and action—that's it. Many struggle to achieve a positive mindset because they are looking for it in the wrong places - worldly places, new age philosophies, and other people. Without a positive mindset, you cannot focus on creating efficient strategies that will guide you to success. And without strategy, you don't know what action to take. In addition, mindset influences the actions you take. You will not take positive, effective action if you have a negative mindset.

Before we go any further, recognize that you need help to succeed. You may be surprised at where the best help will come from.

What do you need to do to be successful? Prioritize your mindset, as it is the most important of the three.

You can create strategies all day, but if your mindset—your beliefs and thoughts—is unfavorable, you will not implement the plan effectively or make the right choices to take the right actions. With that said, what do you need to do to be successful? Focus on your beliefs and thoughts.

A positive mindset comes from the Word of God.

How can you adopt a positive mindset when you feel stuck in a cycle, maybe a life-long cycle, of doubt, fear, self-criticism, imposter syndrome, and lack? God gives us specific advice on this in Scripture.

In 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, Paul says, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have the divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

In Romans 12:2, Paul wrote, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will."

Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

In Order To Live A Fulfilling, Joyful Life, And Build A Personal Brand, You Must Embrace Your Whole Self. Your Highest And Best Self, Including Your Imperfections. The New Golden Rule

The old golden rule says to treat others the way you want to be treated. Emily says, treat yourself the way you want others to treat you. The new golden rule is a guide to help you embrace your whole self.

The way the new golden rule came about was that Emily was doing so much doing for other people seeking validation and acceptance. She was getting to the goal, but wasn’t satisfied and kept wanting more. Throughout this journey, she was never good enough.

Like many of us, Emily had a lot of noise under the service which seeped out in different ways like overworking, being distracted, her relationship with food.

Being Kind Is Not A One Way Street

Upon this realization, Emily began to ask herself, if we are not kind to ourselves, how can we truly be kind to others?

As Emily began to do the work on herself, her life began to transform. Her relationships became more whole-hearted, she developed friendships with people that she could really see, her relationship with her career became more clear. She discovered that she was really meant to be an entrepreneur. Even her relationship with her partner shifted seismically.

Criticism – You Can’t Embrace Your Whole Self If You Are Constantly Criticizing

When we are critical of ourselves, how can we not be critical of others? Emily admitted she was critical of her husband. The natural next step is to do that to your kids. She began to feel so much shame because the narrative in her head about how and who they should be was weighing her down.

The shift in her life from treating herself the way she wanted others to treat her, inspired her to write The New Golden Rule. She had hit rock bottom to take this work on, and she doesn’t want others to have to experience that.

My Personal Brand Journey is Definitely Atypical. It Has Been Built from a Place of Service and to Have an Even Bigger Impact, I am Undergoing a Business Transition.

Business transitions, like building a personal brand, can be challenging but like I always say, they don't have to be. One of the key components of building a successful personal brand and business is to be authentic, true to your values, and open to change. Through the years, that is exactly what I've done. I've followed callings and opened many doors of opportunity to land where I am today.

My Personal Brand Began with a Major Business Transition from Pharmacist to Photographer

Eleven years ago I left my medical career and put my doctorate of pharmacy hat on a shelf will all of my medical references. Life was crazy busy with my husband traveling, me traveling and meeting deadlines as a freelance medical writer and consultant in the pharmaceutical industry, and our boys growing up and playing travel sports. Not to mention, our nanny for our then-toddler daughter, the only support we had, became ill and could no longer work for us.

I have always had a love for photography, had taken many classes, and was passionate about it. In addition, it was my therapy, my escape when I was anxious or just needed time to myself. My husband recognized this and suggested I become a photographer. At the time I thought he was crazy. However, I embraced the idea and within six weeks of starting a photography blog, I had my first paying client.

The job was for website and branding photography and I immediately fell in love. Instead of embracing the role of branding photographer, I took every job that came my way, family portraits, headshots, branding, senior portraits, product, and first communion portraits.

The First Few Years in Business My Personal Brand Did Not Really Exist

When I started my business I wanted to invest as little as possible. I tried to do everything myself. The problem was that I did not have a clue on what I needed to do or how to do it. I could take beautiful images, but running a successful photography business meant building a personal brand and doing a lot more than creating a basic website and relying on word of mouth to get clients.

It wasn't until I created a personal brand that I started to see true success.

Living with Purpose Means Your Goals are Unique to You

Often times we look around and think, "oh, I should do what this woman is doing" or "I need to do these things too". We end up setting our goals based on everyone else's metrics of success instead of defining what success looks like to us and leaning into our own unique gifts and talents and letting those be the guide.

We find joy and satisfaction when we are aligned with our goals. Going from A to Z. The B to Y is so important. The endpoint can seem so daunting so we need to look at what's in between, the B to Y, to reach the goals.

Where we are today, and where we want to go, there is a huge chasm. If we put one foot in front of the other every day, we'll get there so much faster than trying to rush through without being aligned.

The Purpose Equation - For Finding and Living with Purpose

Robyn shared her purpose equation, Values + Visions + Passions = Purpose.

We must be aligned with our values or we will become frustrated.

This ties in with Tayna's North Star concept that she shared in "The Joy of Missing Out", your values, visions, and mission are your guiding light and principal. This helps determine your soulmate clients. This is also important with how you run your team and set your boundaries.

How to Discover Your Passions

If you are feeling lost in the day-to-day of motherhood and are struggling to identify your passions, travel back in time. Do reflection work and discover what your passions were before you began the journey of motherhood and expectations.

Dive into who you were when you were a kid. What were the activities you looked forward to?

Tayna gave the example of playing softball. Maybe you won't play softball as an adult, but what did you like about softball. Was it being outdoors, the team environment, the athleticism, moving your body? Ask yourself why and you'll start to see bread crumbs for things you are passionate about.

Another exercise to discover your passions is diving into what you wanted to be when you grew up. Remember when there were no constraints on you. Why did you want to be that? What was it about being that that made you excited?

PIE

We are all multi-passionate. Every person on the planet has more than one thing they love.

It’s important to narrow down first, niche down first, then add on and expand. You can’t be Amazon straight out of the gate. When we do this, we wear ourselves out. Choose to focus.

The cost of greatness is commitment. Commit to doing fewer things so that we can really do them well and then expand.

Being a business owner is exciting, fun, inspiring, joyful, and purposeful. But you need hope for the entrepreneurship journey to stay positive and have the strength to follow your dreams and achieve your goals.

Hope is the desire that keeps you moving forward. You need hope and a positive mindset to stay motivated, to put one foot in front of the other when the excitement has waned and doubt has arrived. Hopeful expectation will help you see a light at the end of the tunnel, and your effort and dedication will produce results.

Put your hope in the Lord.

The psalmist in Psalm 32 says, "We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you." In Psalm 130:7, we read, "Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption."

She never gave up.

In Matthew, Mark, and Luke, we are told the story of the woman who had been bleeding for 12 years. According to doctors, there was no cure, nothing anyone could do for her. But she didn't give up hope. She had faith. When she learned about Jesus, she believed that He was the chosen one, the Messiah. Through faith in Him, she had hope that He could heal her. Her faith was so strong that she believed that if she couldn't get to Him if she could touch His robe, she'd be healed. And she was.

A prayer for you

I pray over you today, friend. Lord, thank you for the hope you have given us through Jesus and your limitless gifts of hope, grace, and love. Please calm this beautiful soul's heart and quiet her mind so she will hear you speaking to and guiding her. Grant her an elevation in her faith in you and hope in all things possible through that faith. You are so good, Lord. Help us take the hope found only in you and share it while using your gifts to serve others and bring glory to you through all we say and do, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Hope by definition is a confident expectation that something (or someone) good will be part of your future.

What have you been hoping for? Maybe your biggest hopes and dreams have not come to fruition, yet. But it's important to remember that there will always be hope if you believe.

A story about hope

As you may know, I launched the Success Without Social Media Mastermind last week. To say it didn't go as planned is an understatement. I felt a lack of hope for my business and the offer I thought was going to be well received. I wanted to be angry and sad. For a moment or two, I even told God how upset I was that He hadn't made the launch a success. After all, I'd done everything I knew to do to market it and I'd prayed for his blessing upon it.

Instead of staying mad at God, I decided to dive into scripture and see what He had to say about the experience. Every verse I read for the next two days was about strength, hope, and perseverance. I wanted to give up but he was emphatically telling me not to.

Upon journaling about what I'd read and heard from Him, I discovered a few things. I am sharing this experience with you because I think it's super important to be real and share that not everything goes the way we want it to.

What I learned about hope

I've always been someone who hopes a lot and believes that absolutely anything is possible with God. Philippians 4:13 has been on repeat in my mind for years - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Likewise, In Mark 10:27 we are reminded by Jesus that “With man, this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

These two verses remind us that there will always be hope if you believe. But here's the reality. Just because we want something, doesn't mean that is what is best for us or what God has planned for us. It doesn't mean there is no longer hope, it means that what I was hoping for wasn't the right thing for me (or you) at this time.

And often, God uses experiences like this to teach us a lesson. I was indeed in need of a lesson last week. By diving into scripture and listening to what God had to say, I realized that I was following the recommendations of humans, not God. I was depending on what my coaches had told me, not on what my intuition and God were telling me.

Doing what my coaches have been doing and teaching me about isn't aligned with me or the purpose God has for me - right now. In addition, I wasn't trusting Him, I was trying to control what happened in my business instead of letting Him guide me. If my launch had been a huge success I would have proven I, like all the big-wig coaches online, could have a six-figure launch. But that isn't me. It isn't my priority. And it also wasn't what God was calling me to do.

It's that time of year when it's easy to get inundated with to-do lists and life can quickly become stressful instead of joyful. Remember, you need rest, and stepping away or saying no is okay.

Even God chose to rest on the 7th day. And you need to rest too. You can't do well if your body, mind, and soul aren't given the rest they need to reset and refuel. You can find rest, peace, and joy this Christmas season and beyond.

It's so busy and the distractions are many

One might argue that every season of life is hectic and full of chaos and distractions. But the holiday season seems to be especially busy, especially if you are a business owner.

You have year-end reviews, goal-setting, gift-buying, parties, baking, and more that have been added to your already-growing to-do list. Overwhelm can set it quickly. And with overwhelm often comes stress.

To top it off, your email inbox is overflowing with shoulds and last-minute ideas on how to prepare your life and business for the new year. Not to mention the sales and gift promotional emails from every store on the planet - most of which you've probably never heard of but somehow they have your email address.

One overwhelming thing after another, right?

You can see why it is important to turn down the volume, turn off the electronics, and give yourself some rest. We all need to rest. All year long, but especially during the holiday season.

After all, Christmas is about the birth of the Prince of Peace, not about hustle and bustle, to-do lists, baking, gifts, and traditions. Those things are all very nice to incorporate, however, we must not lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas and the rest God has called us to.

What does the Bible say about the need to rest?

If we're talking about rest, we have to start with Genesis. In Genesis 2:2-3 we learn that even God rested. The verses read, "By the seventh day, God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day, he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done."

Likewise, in Hebrews 4:9-10 we read, "There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his."

In Psalm 4:8 David wrote, "In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." Not only does this verse emphasize the need to rest, but also to trust that God will provide the rest and safety we need.

It's time for a business detox! Clear your heart and mind and better see what God has in store for you and your business. God has a purpose and calling for each of us and wants us to stay aligned with Him.

What is a business detox? If you feel overwhelmed or like you are spinning in circles with a never-ending to-do list, maybe it's time to step back and listen for God's voice. Maybe you need to hear God more clearly to fully understand your purpose and what He's calling you to. When you more clearly hear God's voice, you will have more direction and confidence in your business endeavors. Having more direction and confidence will allow you to grow and scale with simplicity and at a faster rate.

Allow God to transform you for a business detox.

In Romans 12:2, Paul tells us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will." When we step into faith, we allow God to transform us. Often, transformation is what is needed for us to clearly hear God's voice and experience the growth He is calling us to.

What is a business detox?

We need to purge our old thoughts, ways, and even clients to move forward to grow and scale our businesses. God gave Andrea the verse Hebrews 12:1, which reads, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

We are to throw off everything that hinders us from hearing God's will for us. There are things that hinder us that aren't sin. Whatever feels like dead weight that is stopping you from stepping into the business God has for you needs to be thrown off. Building a business is a process. You must go through each phase or step to reach the next level. But eventually, you need to be willing to move from one phase to the next. Andrea used the example of riding a bike and removing the training wheels.

Unveiling Holistic Leadership Strategies: Power, Authority, and Influence in Faith and Entrepreneurship

The journey through holistic leadership, which encompasses faith and personal growth, is an intricate and fulfilling adventure.

What is holistic Leadership?

Holistic leadership involves leading ourselves first, then our intimate circles, and finally, our professional and organizational contexts.

Holistic leadership integrates various facets of life—personal, intimate, professional, and organizational. It begins with leading oneself and progresses to influencing and guiding family, relationships, and professional environments. The essence of holistic leadership is the ability to grow and help others grow, maintaining integrity and moral authority throughout.

Understanding power, authority, and influence for holistic leadership.

There are many misconceptions surrounding power, authority, and influence. Younger generations often reject these concepts due to past abuses and negative connotations. However, at their core, these elements are inherently positive.

  • Power: Sacred and meant to do good, reminiscent of God's dynamic creative power.
  • Authority: Derived from the Latin word "auctoritas" (author), it represents giving birth to something and enriching life.
  • Influence: From the Latin "influere" (to pour into), it signifies a life-giving force, reflecting how our interactions can help others grow.

These principles tie back to the creation narrative,

Holistic Leadership Strategies reject the negative use of power

Distinguishing between good and bad uses of power is crucial for a good leader. Authority and influence should serve to uplift and create, not to control or diminish. Many fall into pride, greed, and fear traps, leading to destructive behaviors and decisions that stray from God’s intentions. A focus on humility, grounded in truth and geared toward fostering collective growth, helps avoid these traps.

Integrating faith and holistic leadership strategies.

Faith plays a pivotal role in leadership, offering a moral compass and a source of strength and guidance. The Holy Spirit is available to believers as a source of wisdom and leads our conversations and decisions, underlining the importance of aligning leadership with Christian values. Faith-centered leadership encourages reliance on Christ’s teachings and the embodiment of His love and service in all leadership endeavors.

The role of women in leadership

Women have unique power and dignity, particularly within leadership and motherhood. He highlighted women's invaluable role in nurturing and guiding others, whether physically through motherhood or professionally, as coaches and mentors. The feminist movement brought significant progress but also pressures that sometimes caused women to overcompensate or lose their unique qualities. Embracing the nurturing and creative spirit intrinsic to women aligns with holistic leadership principles and fosters a balanced and supportive environment.

When God is speaking to you, you follow His call. Being unashamed about sharing Jesus.

Have you ever wondered if God is speaking to you? Some believe that that only happened in the Bible. But in reality, God still speaks to us, but we have to listen to hear Him.

How is God speaking to you?

The first step in hearing God speak to you is to read Scripture. Reading Scripture will help you recognize how the Holy Spirit speaks to us. And you can ask the Holy Spirit to make you sensitive to His voice and to help you hear Him.

The Holy Spirit speaks to us through our intuition. Or, you may have a strong feeling about something.

Oftentimes, things you've been praying about will come up in conversation. Someone will bring up the topic to you out of the blue. Let your ears be open to hear the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit may speak to you in dreams, song lyrics, or maybe a picture that pops into your head. In addition, you may experience a change in your circumstances, like opportunities dry up. This is what happened to Laureen Alexa with her acting career. The roles she was willing to play quit coming up. In addition, the roles offered to her were not aligned with her morals.

When you feel a shift like this in your life, ask God if he wants you to lean in and keep pressing because He's training you in perseverance, or does He want you to pivot? Or, ask Him if this is a new opportunity and ask him to redirect your steps.

Similarly, if it's a perseverance thing, He's going to strengthen you and you will receive confirmation or release that gives you a new insight or direction.

In addition, ask God to give you sensitivity to hear His voice and to know the counterfeits from His. Also, ask Him to make you in tune to Him because you want to obey Him. This is the prayer Laureen prays.

Discernment is critical

The most important thing about communicating with God is discernment. It's imperative to discern and differentiate between what we think God is saying versus what the world or Satan may be saying.
