The PR Playbook Podcast

So you want to start a podcast? It's a daunting task. I know first hand what it's like to start a podcast. I’ve started two podcasts in the last two years. Before you get started you have to know that sticking to a podcast is one of the hardest things to do if you don’t have motivation.
What is your motivation, what are you trying to achieve and what are your goals? Make sure you have outlined these things. In this podcast I talk about a few things I wish I knew, the things that I’ve done right and the things that I’ve learned from podcasting.

Get your mic - you can find great podcasting Mic’s on Amazon and create really easy setups.

Secure your podcast platform. We use Buzzsprout and love it! Buzzsprout offers the best integrations of other websites such as Otter.ai which posts the transcript of your podcast. Or, try out Simplcast, Lybson and others. There are many to choose from, those platforms will help you easily disseminate your podcast across all the platforms like Apple podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Pandora, Amazon and more...

Create your podcast cover art. You can find resources and directions, but the best way to really determine what will be on your artwork is by looking at other podcast covers. What works, what doesn’t and what will make you stand out? Do you want your picture do you want to focus on the topic, etc.

You’ll need a description of your pod. You can probably create this when you create your theme. But anywhere you go you’ll need to have a solid description of the types of content people can expect to hear on your podcast.

Ok...so start recording already. Don’t be shy and most people hate the sound of their own voice. Don’t worry it’s ok. There’s a whole different dimension to recording an episode that I’ll outline in our next podcast. So stay tuned on the structure of your podcast and what you’ll want to make sure to include.
