Protect Yourself

  • Recognize scam attempts and end all communication with the perpetrator.
  • Search online for the contact information (name, email, phone number, addresses) and the proposed offer. Other people have likely posted information online about individuals and businesses trying to run scams.
  • Resist the pressure to act quickly. Scammers create a sense of urgency to produce fear and lure victims into immediate action. Call the police immediately if you feel there is a danger to yourself or a loved one.
  • Be cautious of unsolicited phone calls, mailings, and door-to-door services offers.
  • Never give or send any personally identifiable information, money, jewelry, gift cards, checks, or wire information to unverified people or businesses.
  • Make sure all computer anti-virus and security software and malware protections are up to date. Use reputable anti-virus software and firewalls.
  • Disconnect from the internet and shut down your device if you see a pop-up message or locked screen. Pop-ups are regularly used by perpetrators to spread malicious software. Enable pop-up blockers to avoid accidentally clicking on a pop-up.
  • Be careful what you download. Never open an email attachment from someone you don't know, and be wary of email attachments forwarded to you.
  • Take precautions to protect your identity if a criminal gains access to your device or account. Immediately contact your financial institutions to place protections on your accounts, and monitor your accounts and personal information for suspicious activity.

009: Kat Coffey - Ultra Runner, Nutritionist, and Co-Founder of Kagavu

Send us a text

Kat Coffey is an Ultra Marathoner, Certified Nutritionist, and Co-Founder of Kagavu.
In this interview we sit down with Kat Coffey to discuss her running, school, being a nutritionist, her non-profit, and so much more. This interview was so enjoyable and I hope you enjoy it as well.
In the episode we discuss some of the adversity Kat has faced with a diagnosis of celiac disease. She talks about the importance of education when it comes to overcoming and coping with it. That experience thrust her into endurance sports and so began her journey to the next topic, Little Dog's Backyard Ultra.
A lot of time was spent talking about Kat's time spent pounding the trails of Laz's backyard, famously known as Little Dog's Backyard. Kat successfully completed 14 yards before timing out on her 15th yard. We talk about the game plan, nutrition, course condition, competition, crewing, and much more.
Kat also talks about the non-profit she co-founded, Kagavu, which was created to equip and educate people to live sustainable lives, and to intercede for those in need. The proceeds of their products are used to help both internationally and domestically. Internationally, they are currently focusing on the village of Kagavu in the Mubende District of Central Uganda. The founders, Kat Coffey and Adam Feldbruegge, traveled to Kagavu in July 2018 and were inspired to give back to this community and help provide basic necessities of life, as well as proper education and medical support. They believe that the talents given by the Lord should be used to better the world. With each hand crafted/painted object they believe that slowly they can make a difference in that community and eventually, the world.
