021: 10 Family Travel Tips
The On PACE Podcast
03/24/24 • 27 min
In this episode we discuss traveling as a family and ways to stay ahead of your vacation.
- Don’t over plan!!!
- Your kid doesn’t care about the things you care about. Mini golf, resort pool, etc
- Have plenty of snacks (especially to a theme park or beach). Don’t get HANGRY
- Lower stress levels - take a walk, CBD gummies and/or Ashwaganda, AirPods or noise cancelling devices (cone of silence). Try to not major on little stuff. In the words of Elsa... LET IT GO!
- Eat places that you can’t get at home (more of a rule) - caveat Chickfila is an exception and sometimes you just need a good fried chicken sandwich or salad
- Use a travel planner for Disney and/or your first time somewhere
- Grocery Delivery (walmart/publix/kroger/door dash/instacart) to your destination. We did this to Disney.
- Have a pull behind cart if you plan to haul more than a little to the beach 😂
- After checking in for Southwest... stay on the app and wait for upgrade option. Paid $40 to upgrade from c10 to a1
- AirTags are great for sliding in your bags to track your luggage. Or bracelets for kids that slide AirTags into them

016: Setting Goals and Pursuing Dreams
The On PACE Podcast
02/02/24 • 37 min
In this episode we discuss Setting Goals and Pursuing Dreams.
Setting Goals
1. Power of Proximity - Surround yourself with positive people
2. Have a Vision - Don't limit your vision by historical boundaries
3. Breakdown Barriers
Roger Bannister = sub 4:00 minute mile
Eliud Kipchoge = sub 2:00 hour marathon
Something seemingly impossible can turn into a very attainable goal once someone proves it's possible.
4. Barrier to Entry: Do the hard thing. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
The higher the barrier the entry the harder it will be. Higher Risk = Higher Reward
Lower Barrier to entry = Lower Risk and more people doing it
Pursuing Dreams
1. **Define Your Dream:** Clearly articulate what your dream is. Be specific about your goals and envision what success looks like for you.
2. **Set SMART Goals:** Break down your dream into smaller, achievable goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
3. **Create a Plan:** Develop a step-by-step plan outlining the actions you need to take to move toward your dream. This plan should serve as your roadmap.
4. **Educate Yourself:** Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for your pursuit. Continuous learning and improvement are key components of achieving dreams.
5. **Take Action:** Begin taking small, consistent steps towards your goals. Action is crucial in turning dreams into reality.
6. **Stay Persistent:** Expect challenges and setbacks. Persistence is often the key to overcoming obstacles and staying on course.
7. **Seek Support:** Surround yourself with supportive individuals who share your vision or can provide guidance. A supportive network can be invaluable.
8. **Adaptability:** Be flexible and open to adjustments. Circumstances may change, and being adaptable allows you to navigate unexpected challenges.
9. **Celebrate Milestones:** Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements along the way. Recognizing progress can boost motivation.
10. **Reflect and Adjust:** Regularly evaluate your progress, reflect on what's working and what isn't, and adjust your approach accordingly.
Remember, pursuing a dream is a journey with ups and downs. Stay focused, resilient, and committed to your vision.

022: Andy Neal - Life, Weight loss, Doing Hard Things, and Conquering a Half Marathon
The On PACE Podcast
04/13/24 • 117 min
In this episode the special guest is Andy Neal. Andy is a life long friend who grew up in middle Tennessee and recently moved to Knoxville. After the move, he accepted a position in sales and consulting, which gave him an opportunity to leave the machinist job he had been doing for years. About a year ago, he was motivated by a family member and decided to change his life by starting a drastic weight loss journey. There have been obstacles and challenges, but also a lot of grit and determination. He has had the support of his amazing wife, Rachel, throughout it all. In October, she threw out the idea that they should run a half marathon. She had run several, but this would be Andy's first half. They began training on a mix of running and cross fit exercises and built up to a level that had him ready to run. In April of 2024, Andy conquered the Oak Barrel Half Marathon course in his hometown of Lynchburg, TN with a time of 2:41 and completed the goal set forth just a few months prior. It truly was an inspirational and emotional moment as he crossed the finish. He stated that it was the hardest thing that he had ever done... but he did it!
