Why Business Owners Need a Podcast (and More Importantly, Why They Don't)
The More Profitable Podcast with Stacey Harris
01/18/23 • 30 min
5.0
You hear all the time about the things you should do to succeed in your business. Some marketing technique is always supposedly the only way to get traction. In fact, people say that about podcasting in the corners of the Internet where I lurk.
But if you’ve had a podcast for a while, you’ve had a moment where you questioned the worthiness of still doing it. And if you’ve yet to start a podcast, you may be wondering if you’re ready... or even if it’s something you should do. In this episode, I talk about why podcasting may or may not make sense for you.
4:28 - Is your podcast B2B or B2C? The specific way I see each type
9:36 - The filter you should use when consuming marketing information online
11:19 - How podcasting helps you in selling merch or services, book speaking gigs, or generate affiliate sales
16:44 - Why your focus should be on audience quality, not quantity
18:40 - The #1 reason why podcasting might not be the right move for you right now
21:51 - Situations that can make it tough for you to start a podcast
25:51 - Still don’t know if podcasting is right for you?

“Nobody’s going to listen to my podcast! It’ll just get lost in the sea of shows out there!” I’m guessing that thought has probably run through your head a time or two. But is it actually true? Are you really competing against the millions of podcasts you see on, say, Spotify? In this episode, I do a little podcast myth-busting with metrics.
1:50 - The crazy truth about the vast majority of podcasts (as of July 2022)
4:07 - Why it’s totally worth having your own podcast
5:30 - The first thing you need to have a successful podcast
8:09 - An example of how the trajectory of support for your show can look like
9:39 - Something new podcast show hosts should be aware of (and where a cautionary tale comes in)
11:45 - What you need to continuously reconnect to the purpose of your show

Why I Don’t Care If Your Podcast Is “Bingeworthy”
The More Profitable Podcast with Stacey Harris

You know how you can get into a TV show and watch episode after episode after episode (after episode...)? People do the same with podcasts. In fact, there are gurus who highly recommend making your show the same way: so addictive that it becomes bingeable to anyone who comes across it.
I don’t agree with them. As a matter of face, I don’t think it matters at all. But if being bingeworthy doesn’t matter, then what does? Find out on today’s show as a I talk about bingeworthiness and your podcast!
1:55 - Why I don’t love the idea of making your show bingeable (with one exception)
5:25 - The decision you have to make for your podcast
7:34 - What you should be working towards to help listeners and create a win-win situation
9:03 - How the “content is king” perspective lacks nuance
10:38 - What to do the next time someone recommends bingeability for your podcast

Growing a Podcast More Than 40% in a Year With Tara Newman
The More Profitable Podcast with Stacey Harris
03/08/23 • 44 min

What would growing your podcast mean for your sales? For your business as a whole?
You’d have a valuable asset that attracts more leads, more clients, and more sales. You’d have an avenue to help you achieve sustainable business success. But having support along the way increases your odds exponentially.
Friend and longtime client Tara Newman grew her podcast by 40% last year and was really the start of my agency. When I launched Uncommonly More, she was the first client whose show I helped turn into a lead-generating, client-converting team member. And today, she’s my special guest!
In this episode of The More Profitable Podcast, Tara and I talk about how she grew The Bold Money Revolution podcast and how that growth has impacted her business. You’ll learn what does and doesn’t matter when it comes to launching, what should guide your decision-making as you grow your podcast, how to be strategic with your content, and so much more!
1:31 - Why Tara turned to podcasting and how she launched her podcast
9:00 - When getting feedback matters and why getting on iTunes New and Noteworthy list doesn’t matter
13:18 - Why it’s okay for you to launch your show “dirty” and the only support I recommend at this stage
15:31 - Why the summer of 2018 was the right time for Tara to upgrade her support
19:22 - How Tara got more strategic with her podcast content
26:31 - Why repurposing your content is a gift that encourages your podcast’s growth
28:21 - Why responding to data is better than responding to your feelings
33:56 - How the support and growth of Tara’s podcast has impacted her business
38:32 - How to know if your podcast works in converting sales
40:04 - One of the benefits I love best about podcasting for business purposes

3 Changes Small Business Owners Need to Make for Their Podcast Needs to Thrive
The More Profitable Podcast with Stacey Harris
09/06/23 • 29 min
5.0
Let’s talk about when you get that sneaky feeling that your podcast isn't quite hitting the mark. Maybe you're struggling to connect with your audience or struggling to find your voice and message. Or maybe you're feeling overwhelmed with the production process.
Good news, that’s not just “what podcasting is.” It’s not a matter of getting through the hard, and “someday” it’ll be easier. To get to easier, you have to make some changes. The larger problem is that often, those changes get made at a content level and not a strategic level. That leaves you even more frustrated and even more disconnected from the results you want from your podcast.
In this episode of The More Profitable Podcast, I’m sharing the three changes small business owners need to make to start generating, educating, and converting right-fit clients with their show while making the whole process much easier.
1:05 - Why now is the time to ask these questions and make these changes
4:50 - Listening to this podcast will not get you results; the actions you take will
6:20 - The impact of understanding your podcast promise
13:00 - The dangers of listening to the wrong ideas and opinions about your podcast
19:30 - The impact of hiring the wrong support team for your podcast

Podcast Ratings and Reviews: Do They Matter, Where to Get Them, and How to Use Them
The More Profitable Podcast with Stacey Harris
01/18/22 • 19 min
I'm super stoked to talk about podcast ratings and reviews today because there are thing I get questions about from time to time. And I think there are things where we end up on either end of a spectrum. And the answer is really kind of in the middle, which is that I don't care about reviews at all, and I'm never going to ask for them. And I'm obsessed with ratings and reviews and I need new ones daily to feel like I'm a success as a podcaster.
Neither of those is the answer, just spoiler alert. It really is somewhere more in the middle.
