Unlock the secrets to peak brain health and athletic performance with Barton Bryan on the Mindset Forge Podcast, featuring insights from the renowned Justin Franson. Ever wondered how the devices we cherish might be affecting our well-being? Franson lays bare the hidden costs of our high-tech lifestyles, explaining how EMFs disrupt our brain's natural rhythms and sleep patterns. But it's not all about the problems; we also bring you solutions. Learn an invaluable fascial stretch to boost thoracic mobility—a game-changer for anyone striving for physical excellence.
As we navigate the complex interplay between environment and elite performance, our conversation takes a deep dive into the invisible forces shaping our health. From EMF pollution to the fundamental role of hydration and diet, we unearth practical strategies that foster an optimal state for achieving a coveted flow state. Beyond the field, we implore medical students and avid listeners to look at the bigger picture, to embrace the holistic significance of fascia, and to engage with the profound effects of grounding practices. This episode isn't just a playbook for athletes aiming high; it's a blueprint for anyone dedicated to elevating their life to a state of optimal well-being.
Find out more about Justin’s concepts:
http://athleticism.com
In early 1998, Justin Frandson read an article in the newspaper about one of the greatest pioneers of Sports Performance, Dean Brittenham at Scripps Clinic, La Jolla California, making athletes better athletes through the most creative approaches. The article raved about the track-based speed and power program with stretching, coordination drills, ambidexterity, balance, strength, and more. Justin visited the prestigious location, and started his passion and gifts of facilitating athletic development with athletes and teams of all ages and levels. The article spoke of high school athletes becoming D1 athletes and D1 athletes turning pro. Justin's past and current clientele list consists of many of the highest ranked professional athletes in the US.

The results are instant and tangible in every athlete, no matter their sport. The workouts take even the best athletes in the world out of their coordination comfort zone, to develop more neuroplasticity, in-turn developing more pathways from the brain to the body. This infinite flow consistently brings athletes and performers to their ideal Alpha brainwave state for superior performances. This nerve work and brain coordination entrainment to develop performance is the essence of ATHLETICISM.

In addition to Justin being blessed with an exceptional mentor who was one of the foremost pioneers in Sports Performance, Justin has the innate gifts of developing human performance and seeing things others don't. He has the gifts of intuition and healing to facilitate in optimizing nerve health for injury prevention, recovery, and performance. His sensory nerve treatments for vision and spatial awareness double as concussion protocol. He is known for facilitating getting sports concussions back faster than ever.

Ever wondered how the resilience of the human neck could be the unsung hero in the battle against sports-related concussions and CTE? That's the revelation Mike Jolly brings to the table with the Iron Neck, a device designed with the well-being of athletes in mind. As a former UCLA football and wrestling enthusiast, Mike shares his compelling journey and the aha-moment that led to the invention that's shaking up strength training. We unravel the science behind neck strength as a critical factor for reducing concussion risk, challenging traditional perspectives on athletic preparation, and revealing how Mike's innovation is carving out space in gyms across the globe for a safer future in sports.
Navigating the intense world of youth sports, we take a sobering look at the long-term impact of underreported concussions and the cultural hurdles that keep young athletes from speaking up. It's a candid discussion, sprinkled with heartfelt anecdotes, that uncovers the widespread implications of head injuries beyond the professional arena. Learn how strengthening often-neglected muscle groups like the neck can offer an armor of protection, and why introducing this regimen is vital across all genders and sports disciplines. The conversation takes a turn towards the kinetic chain connecting neck and core strength, shedding light on societal issues like 'tech neck' and the importance of postural health in our tech-dominated world.
For anyone questioning the relevance of neck strength outside the realm of contact sports, the Iron Neck's story of skepticism to acclaim is a testament to its broader applications. From alleviating pain to improving mobility, Mike and I discuss how embracing a proactive approach to fitness can mitigate the health risks associated with sedentary lifestyles. Parents, coaches, and anyone with a stake in the sports community will find value in this episode, as we highlight the critical nature of protecting the brain and the role of neck strength in a holistic approach to athlete welfare. Join us for an episode that's not only about the mechanics of a groundbreaking device but also a deeper conversation about the future of sports safety and wellness.

Meet Barton Guy Bryan

"Throughout my life, I’ve always been either an athlete, a performer, or a gym rat. I love the self improvement, piece of working out and aspiring to be better in sports and in performance. When I became a certified personal trainer, I fell in love with helping other people, find that same passion and enthusiasm for improving themselves through fitness. The same goes with public speaking. The opportunity to get on stage and speak to hundreds of people about how they can prove themselves one little habit at a time through physical activity, lifestyle, change, habits, etc. is the culmination of 48 years of personal growth, helping others, and traveling the world, learning about people, cultures, and things that hold us back."
"My purpose with this podcast is the help men between 40 - 60 maximize this chapter of their life so they can be strong, healthy, disciplined, and purposeful with how they live each day"
