05/17/20 • 39 min
Dan has worked as a tradesman for over 17 years in the mining and construction industry and is passionate about providing training and resources to improve mental and physical health outcomes in our industry.
“After many years of failing to self manage stress and fatigue which led to me to finding balance in all the wrong ways, I was taught how to meditate and most importantly gained education around stress management. The way in which my life has opened up is beyond anything I thought possible when I began and I am constantly finding myself in awe of how this simple daily practice brings so much benefit to everyone that does it”.
Dan has spent the past 6 years going deep into the practice and knowledge of Meditation and Yoga. Becoming a certified 1GM Meditation teacher and accredited Yoga instructor.
Following a curiosity to understand himself and purpose in the world he began a practice that allowed him to find connection to a deeper state of quiet or “Being” that wasn’t dependent on the external circumstances of life. It also gave him awareness to see life from a fresh perspective which led Dan to find balance in ways that were more sustainable and life supporting.
His mission in life is mental health support for tradespeople, he has decided to take his knowledge and experience to create a Workplace Wellness program especially designed for employees in the mining and construction industries. A program that is just as impactful for the tradespeople on site as it is for all levels of management and administration.
These programs are effective, time/cost-efficient and designed to provide workers with very practical stress management tools, information and resources that empower them to feel and do better at work. In this episode we discuss his journey to becoming a meditation teacher, how this journey has effected his life on and off the job-site and his own mental health. We discuss his life now as a meditation teacher and what he hopes to achieve from it and the importance of meditation in peoples lives for stress relief and other health benefits.
