85 Healing Our Wounded Men with Yaron Engler
12/14/21 • 62 min
Men can’t be the heroes in our story if they are traumatised and hen pecked. We could harp on about feminism and the patriarchy all day, but ultimately, if we want better menopause care, we must find ways of harmoniously working together, and that involves learning.
As women (cis and trans), understanding men and the wounds they carry, I believe, holds the key to healing a broken system, a system that currently doesn't help us through the menopause transition safely.
In this episode I talk to one of the most dynamic people I know, Israeli born Yar’on Engler.
Yar’on communicates with brutal and brilliant honesty which, during the recording of this episode lifted me up so high, I want you to get a taste of that too.
In this episode we talk about:
👉🏽Radical Honesty in relationships
👉🏽Lead with your heart and let your head follow
👉🏽Depression: The start of a life long journey
👉🏽What exactly IS a spiritual journey?
👉🏽The CROP Method
👉🏽Coming home to the self (non judgemental self observation)
👉🏽Finding peace in simplicity
👉🏽Sadness being part of joy (not happiness)
👉🏽What has Strictly Come Dancing got to do with anything?
👉🏽The power of staring in the eyes of strangers
👉🏽Resistance to facing ourselves head on
👉🏽Touching the extremes of our passion
👉🏽How can women in relationships with men, approach difficult conversations (when they are not open to change)
👉🏽Why change is easier inside a circle
If you're ready to think outside the box and travel deep into your heart, when it comes to your menopause transition, then this episode is for you.

84 Childlessness - The Conversation: With Jody Day
Childlessness can be a black cloud for people approaching menopause and you'll notice it has been missing from this podcast. There's a reason for that. It's because, up until now, I had no idea how to talk about it (and I'm childless!) So can you imagine how people WITH children must feel?
We skirt around the edges or worse still unconsciously insult and shame childless people with 'bingos' like 'oh well, you could always adopt'.
Not many of us have the vocabulary to talk about childlessness empathetically, because we have been marinaded in something called Pronatalism (which you will learn about in today's episode).
Jody Day is an insightful philosopher and the founder of Gateway Women, a global community of over 2 million, supporting involuntary childless women through their grief.
In this episode we cover:
➡️ Being childless at Christmas
➡️ Childlessness and childfree as a spectrum
➡️ Disenfranchised grief
➡️ The healing power of grief
➡️ Having a language to describe your experience
➡️ Unconscious bias towards parenting (pronatalism)
➡️ Dismantling the stereotypes of childlessness women (Cruella De Ville)
➡️ Yearning for motherhood as a last ditch attempt to feel normal
➡️ Reclaiming the childless life (or not)
➡️ The fetishization of motherhood
➡️ The cultural fear of childless women (the deviant)
➡️ Ageing without children
Whether you are childless, childfree or a mother, you will get something profoundly different in this episode.
I really hope you dive into the rabbit hole with us - it's life changing.

86 The Healing Power of Grief with Dawn Ford
In many cultures, we are shown that a display of sadness and grief is unpalatable and unwelcome. As people that go through menopause, this is bad news.
Grief occurs when we experience any kind of loss or change. It is not limited to death and bereavement. So a rising of grief during menopause is natural.
Learning how to navigate this internal change can often mean allowing ourselves to experience the sadness of loss. But how do we do that when we are so biased towards 'getting over it' as quickly as possible.
If you want to learn to understand grief a little more and how it might relate to your life, then this episode might be for you.
In this episode with Dawn Ford, grief and loss specialist, we discuss:
💔 Making keepsakes out of loved ones clothes
💔 Why grief doesn't mean that we are broken.
💔 Why there is no way to grieve properly
💔 What helps us grieve.
💔 The definition of grief
💔 Why grief and loss work is not just for bereavements and deaths.
💔 The consequences of not dealing with grief.
💔 The link between menopause and grief.
💔 Grief happening in layers.
💔 Fear of the tears never stopping.
💔 Deconstructing the word recovery (do we ever fully recover?)
💔 What not to say when someone is grieving
If you're ready to soften your edges and allow yourself to melt into full acceptance of your feelings, then this episode is for you.
