The Menopause Mindset

Recently I witnessed a menopause practitioner being derogatory about the DUTCH test online.

It shocked me but ultimately everyone is entitled to their opinion.

What I found difficult though was the unwillingness to broaden their perspective and listen to all sides of the story. Any contradictory opinion was simply shut down with a response such as 'I stand by my original opinion.'

This kind of thinking is problematic for reasons you'll learn in today's podcast episode.

Doctor Allie Grimston is an NHS GP, a Functional Medicine Doctor and a spiritual healer. What I love about Dr Allie, is her ability to take a broad view of the whole system in a way that considered and compassionate (something that was lacking in this particular online conversation).

Is your mental health suffering as a result of the HRT shortage?

This shortage is incredibly invalidating as a woman or person who takes it and I've no doubt is rooted in hidden misogyny.

Needless to say, anxiety is on the rise as a result but ....

And that's the idea that anxiety is not caused by an oestrogen and progesterone deficiency ALONE.

The causes of anxiety are multi layered and therefore require a variety of approaches to manage successfully, not just HRT.

Anxiety was one of my most debilitating symptoms of peri menopause. I still have my days, but I no longer suffer chronically and one of the main reasons why is because...

It was a slow process but I had to start somewhere.
