The Healing House

Here it is, the story of my own "Dark Night of the Soul": Abrupt changes in my environment, combined with unfolding deep childhood trauma in EMDR therapy, led to a spiraling existential depression. This period is what made me who I am todaystronger, healthier, and more compassionate. The purpose of my story is to transform despair into hope for those experiencing dark days, even when the tank is seemingly empty. Dark periods of life are necessary for growth and change. Just like anything that is born or grows, starts in darkness (a mother's belly, or a seed in the soil) before it is alive. Your beingness and consciousness do the same.

Awakening + The Dark Night with Jamie Munday

A year ago, Jamie helped me through so many questions after my awakening. This is the conversation...I've come a long way since then, not really understanding what any of it meant at the time of this conversation, but I find it extremely helpful.
The Show:
Jamie, who later became my spiritual mentor and yoga coach, is known for his YouTube channel where he explains his experience with a sudden kundalini awakening.
We discuss both of our experiences with awakening spiritually and the pain that comes with it. How do you distinguish between intuition and ego? What does a dark night feel like? We share our experience in hopes to help others going through the same.
.
.
You may have experienced a "Dark Night of the Soul" or what some call a spiritual depression. It can be described as a period of time when you are no longer your old self, but not yet your new self. It's a transition in life. Feelings of emptiness may arise or a feeling of being in "limbo". A darkness, a void of your being... You may ask questions like "Why am I here?" "What is the meaning of all of this?" "Who am I?" It can come in the existential form.
The idea is that the dark night comes to help us grow. It pulls us away from the habitual life we've been living and makes us realize we may need to change something. It commonly brings us closer to a spiritual path afterward. Of course, this is not to diagnose anyone or imply that your medical depression is a spiritual one.
Jamie, Thank you.
