11/14/19 • 50 min
Tony Long, retired SO19 officer and author of 'lethal force' talks about his career as the Met Police forces most prolific police marksman. For 25 years, he operated in the Met’s elite specialist firearms units and was at the forefront of SO19’s fight against armed crime and terrorism.
He deployed on hundreds of dangerous operations, it was his duty to bring down terrorists, killers and hostage takers often with only split seconds to decide how to react. Tony has been behind some of the UK’s most controversial police shootings, but Tony found himself tried for murder years after his retirement and saw his life crumble around him... simply for doing his job.

The Duratus Mind - Mark Ormrod former Royal Marine and triple amputee.
Mark Ormrod has a story like few you have ever heard. From joining the Royal Marines at just 17 to a number of years later being the UK's military's first triple amputee (both legs and dominant arm) Mark had every excuse going to give up - but Mark doesn't have any quit in him.
At 24yrs old whilst recovering in hospital Mark was told that he would spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair & need to employ a full time carer. After the initial shock Mark decided that he wasn't going to let someone else's opinion become his reality.
A proud father (known to his children as Iron Man) and husband, he created a new purpose and continues now to dominate and thrive in live. A pioneer in the UK as an above the knee double amputee prosthetic walker, he has gone on to be a best selling author, motivational speaker, BJJ blue belt and win multiple Invictus games medals.
His attitude and perspective towards life can help us all. You won't be disappointed by this podcast.
