The Cartridge Family - The Cartridge Family 006 — SNES Classic Edition Review Roundup

The Cartridge Family 006 — SNES Classic Edition Review Roundup

09/22/17 • 65 min

The Cartridge Family

When Buffa’s away, the children play. Unfortunately Papa Buff had to take care of his other children during today’s recording, so we definitely missed out on his SNES expertise which likely would’ve made for a more enriching show. However, what we have for you is a silly and entertaining run through of all the games that come shipped with Nintendo’s new all-in-one retro console.

Before that, however, we’ll run through some recent headlines in the gaming world but for the most part you can look forward to some fun talk about some old, old (but charming) video games. Thanks as always for listening!

The Cartridge Family 005 - Doom and Wolfenstein II on Nintendo Switch

On this week’s show we go over the latest game releases, talk a bit about the Nintendo Direect that aired a few days ago and the headlines it brought with it, and finally, because I can’t help myself we touch ever so slightly on Destiny 2’s post game content.

This week’s discussion topics include the announcement that Bethesda’s Doom and upcoming Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus are headed to the Nintendo Switch. Buffa is especially smitten with the topic considering he’s been eyeing Wolfenstein II since he got his hands on it at an event a few months back. We then briefly discuss Metroid: Samus Returns and the concept of remaking (not remastering) games from scratch. We wrap up the show by talking about Microsoft’s Xbox Showcase which we had the pleasure of attending earlier this week. Thanks as always for listening!

The Cartridge Family 007 — A Look Back: Halo 3, SNES Memories, and Cuphead

In this episode we’ll go over the latest headlines in gaming before chatting about what Halo 3 (released 10 years ago this month) meant to us way back when. We’ll discuss Cuphead, an homage to cartoons from the 1930s, since John and I have been playing it. We’ll get Buffa in on the fun as we discuss the SNES Classic Edition’s Launch, and what the original hardware release meant to us as younger folk. He and Vin had the pleasure of attending the launch event in NYC too, so we’ll hear all about the antics that ensued that night. We wrap things up by learning what the oringal owner wrote inside the booklet of Buffa’s used copy of NBA Showdown for SNES. All this and more on this week’s The Cartridge Family.
