Episode #7 - Jacqui Duncan, Rucka Rucka Ali, Pokemon Go, Badass Eagles, Jammed Guns
This week, we debate the decision to make Sulu in the upcoming Star Trek movie gay. Surprisingly, one of the biggest critics of the decision comes from George Takei himself—the actor who played the original character—which is surprising because he's gay in real life. Takei wants to see more gay characters, but without changing the existing ones. I disagree, it's 2016, so everyone in 2259 should be gay and Paul Feig should direct. This week I'm joined by the beautiful and talented, Jacqui Duncan. She's an actress, comedian and voiceover artist. And she's in search of a husband because unless she gets a green card, she's being deported back to Australia at the end of this month. She describes her ideal man in this episode, and maybe this is just my ego talking, but it sounds exactly like me. https://www.instagram.com/jacquiduncan/ I'm also joined by Rucka Rucka Ali, who thinks t-shirts grow on trees. There are no free shirts, stop asking. It was a stupid joke. The debate this week is about Pokemon Go: it has over 65 million downloads, so naturally it's going to have its critics. I masterfully debate both sides of the issue, for and against the phenomenon. Speaking of, here's the clip of the guy who falls into a pond while playing Pokemon Go: https://youtu.be/LzPtFz-baMg And here's a news clip about the cop who lodges a bullet into the chamber of a guy who tried to rob him. The 9 News anchor from the episode claims, "this was effective." (Note: the video clip is from TOMO News, not 9 News) https://youtu.be/h77Q0OkWtAM The voicemail number is: 1-562-58-I-RULE (1-562-584-7853). Episode #9 - Prisoner Voting, Rucka, Mikey Bolts, Austin Blank, Marina Joyce, English Bulldogs, Soup
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: The Virginia Supreme Court recently ruled that the governor doesn't have the right to restore voting for ex-offenders. The question this week is: SHOULD EX-OFFENDERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE? YES or NO? I'm joined this week by Austin Blank promoting his art project, Soup Flavored Blankets. Check out these shitty Yelp reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/soup-flavored-blankets-black-rock-city-3 I'm also joined by Rucka (http://ruckasworld.com/) and Mikey Bolts (https://www.youtube.com/user/michaelbalalis) who just released his impression challenge #9. Also, here is a quick survey to help out the show: http://survey.libsyn.com/madcastmedia This week we discuss Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe restored an ex-offender's right to vote, and the state supreme court struck it down. Is this constitutional? How long should prisoners be punished for crimes they've committed after they've been released? What other constitutional rights should we withhold from prisoners? The right to bear arms? Many people would think so. We also discuss how screwed English Bulldogs are, and that their only way out of their genetic flaws is to screw their brains out. Also, we touch on the weird Marina Joyce controversy on YouTube where a bunch of dipshit Internet sleuths thought she was kidnapped by ISIS, instead of using Occam's Razor to conclude that it was a PR stunt. The voicemail number is: 1-562-58-I-RULE (1-562-584-7853). madcastmedia.com Sources NPR - Virginia court overturns voting rights to felons - http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/07/22/487107922/virginia-court-overturns-order-that-restored-voting-rights-to-felons Procon.org - Are felons more likely to vote Democrat? - http://felonvoting.procon.org/view.answers.php?questionID=000662 Forbes - Marina Joyce conspiracies and bad cybersleuthing - http://www.forbes.com/sites/fruzsinaeordogh/2016/07/29/on-the-marina-joyce-conspiracies-and-bad-cybersleuthing/#7ef5e396c1c3 BBC - English Bulldog health problems prompt cross-breeding call - http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-36916431 "Mining by Moonlight" and "Music to Delight" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
