Things at Disney World: Florida that would be helpful for guests to know: nearest elevator, wi-fi code, ice location and the fact that their lagoon is teeming with gators. This week: alligators and kids. Who wins? Turns out, alligators. A family checked into the Disney World resort in Florida and their son was attacked by a gator. People were quick to blame the parents, but according to reports, Disney had no signs posted about alligators. Definitely worth knocking a star or two off the review. I'm joined by Joe Hanson from the Joe Goes show as moderator this week. We did a debate video together which will be posted on his channel and here as soon as it's finished. Spoiler: I win everything. Not sure about Disney's culpability in this gator attack? Here's a video of a Disney employee warding off a gator near Splash Mountain: https://youtu.be/ZONXg4QRSDA I also talk about some very deep and specific Armenian stereotypes at the top of the show. Got any more? Sound off here: 1-562-58-I-RULE (1-562-584-7853). Also, stay tuned to this page for my E3 wrap-up video. I'll post it as soon as it's live this week. THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Conservative commentator, Milo Yiannopoulos got banned permanently from Twitter recently for targeting Ghostbusters actress, Leslie Jones, to online harassment and abuse. The question this week is: IS IT GOOD TO BAN PEOPLE WHO HARASS OTEHRS OR IS IT A VIOLATION OF FREE SPEECH? BANNING IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY or VIOLATION OF FREE SPEECH? I'm joined by the Dating Advice Girl, Erin Tillman this week. She's a dating expert and radio show host on 99.3 KCLA FM, voted one of the 10 best dating shows in 2013. Erin was banned from Tinder a while back, and we get a surprising concession during this episode. Also, satirist Rucka Rucka Ali is back dropping wisdom and terrorizing the studio with a false-shirt operation. A caller noticed the resemblance between Rucka and the character Scooter from Borderlands. We discuss the Twitter ban of Milo Yiannopoulos for harassing Leslie Jones on Twitter. Was it a fair ban? Does it matter when it comes to a private corporation? Or is the alt-right's outrage to this a little too alt-righteous? After all, isn't part of the complaint against the tumblr generation is that they're offended too easily and too often? Why all the outrage? Or is the outrage justified because we don't know if Twitter was self-consistent with their own policies, as there was no transparent arbitration process and no clear reason for the exact violation that triggered his banning. We have a spirited debate about free speech and the implications of this ban. And speaking of free speech, some Starbucks baristas are refusing to write #BlackLivesMatter on their cups when customers request it, in order to not take a stand on racial issues... coming from a company that had the "Race Together" campaign last year, which encouraged its customers to have a "conversation about race" in its stores. I think all the typical Starbucks customer only cares about #BlackCoffeeMatters. Boom. Plus, I received about a billion "corrections" about the evolution of Koffing into Haunter. What's the most overrated movie of all time? Debate starts at 26:28. Chris Ray Gun (https://www.youtube.com/user/MindfreakCM) joins us this week. His most overrated movie pick(s) are the entire Chris Nolan Batman series. A very controversial pick because the second movie was not a hot pile of shit. Plus RUCKA GETS A DEMOTION?! And a promotion in the same episode. Listen for the twist-ending near the end of the episode before the news. Watch the video version here at Watch the video version here at Madcast Media Network YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChMUFeIZ1l9uRJ4bIXuAKDg?sub_confirmation=1 Here's the crew from this week: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bamo9ivlSHN/ Rucka (https://www.youtube.com/user/itsRucka) brings in The Matrix for his "most overrated" movie choice and we simultaneously find out he's blue-pilled. Mikey Bolts (https://twitter.com/MikeyBolts) brings in Mrs. Doubtfire and has a real Scooby-Doo-esque criticism of it. We really took this 20-year-old movie to task! Also, my book, F*CK WHALES, is finally here! Order it now and send me your quotes / reviews / impressions. You're welcome. http://amzn.to/2oiF2xi Finally we round out the episode with a guy who gets his nuts clamped by a crab in Thailand. The video is in The Sun article below. Worth watching. The Best Debate in the Universe - Episode #87 - What sucked most about the 2000s? Kristen Brancaccio
play

02/05/18 • 69 min

Our guest, (Kristen Brancaccio)[https://twitter.com/kristensreality] joins the debate this week, with a surprise answer: nothing. That is, nothing sucked about the 2000s. I point out a little thing called 9/11, and Rucka brings up drug PSAs from the 90s. But since it's the second week we've discussed the reward for saving a life, that's the second debate question this week: is $300 and a banquet enough of a reward for saving someone's life? Or are firefighters getting screwed? Watch the video version here at Madcast Media Network YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChMUFeIZ1l9uRJ4bIXuAKDg?sub_confirmation=1) https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PLf-OiH3ea1_CE0fjmDw3njnqjo2LTl8bu Here's Kristen's Walking Dead video she directed for Bonnie Von Duyke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuQpsx-Bpdc And here's a Walking Dead short she directed called "Lost and Found:" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-GqbNqsfCY Rucka (https://www.youtube.com/user/itsRucka) recaps his story about a guy who saved someone's life in a "Plum" market (think: Whole Foods) and only got $300. Is this a shitty reward? Vote now! Plus ya boi Mikey Bolts (https://www.youtube.com/user/michaelbalalis) is back from a stint with the flu and the NFL. Here's the bonus episode (https://madcastmedia.com/shows/maddoxvsuniverse/3/) for all the winners who want to support the show: https://madcastmedia.com/shows/maddoxvsuniverse/3/ And here's my new book, F*ck Whales: Petty essays from a brilliant mind: http://amzn.to/2CdkfSI This week Mikey Bolts brings in the news, where one of the stories sounds suspiciously like an ad. What do you think? Chime in below. Also this wasn't an exhaustive list of things that sucked from the 2000s, any big ones we missed? And by "we" I mean everyone but me because I know everything. Chime in below: The voicemail number is: 1-562-58-I-RULE (1-562-584-7853). Sources: Maddox - Maddox (http://maddox.xmission.com)

The Best Debate in the Universe - Episode #118 - Should you become a writer? Michael Tabb
play

09/17/18 • 106 min

Debate starts at: 12:28. Should you become a writer? Writer Michael Tabb(https://amzn.to/2xviWNI) joins us this week to debate whether or not you should become a writer. While I am truly ambivalent, I argue that you shouldn't, while Michael drops some serious wisdom into not only how to write, but whether or not it's right for you. This is one of the best conversations we've had on the show. I rarely learn anything because I'm a genius who already knows everything, but I dare go so far as to say I learned something this episode. You will too, if you know what's good for you (i.e., listening to this podcast). Watch the video version here at Madcast Media Network YouTube channel(https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChMUFeIZ1l9uRJ4bIXuAKDg?sub_confirmation=1) https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PLf-OiH3ea1_CE0fjmDw3njnqjo2LTl8bu Ron Babcock(http://twitter.com/ronbabcock) shares some more adorable South Pasadena headlines, and we have the first-ever, Babcock Tip! Listen for it towards the end of the episode, and if you have a sting to send in, send it to [email protected]. Also do yourself a favor and check out Ron's comedy album if you haven't already: https://open.spotify.com/album/0sqXv1U8yj8HN6GTs7tWDW And here's my new book, F*ck Whales: Petty essays from a brilliant mind: http://amzn.to/2CdkfSI We round out the episode with a story about a small-town dog mayor, a bunch of gold lost at sea, and some bullshit about marriage. This week, we debate the decision to make Sulu in the upcoming Star Trek movie gay. Surprisingly, one of the biggest critics of the decision comes from George Takei himself—the actor who played the original character—which is surprising because he's gay in real life. Takei wants to see more gay characters, but without changing the existing ones. I disagree, it's 2016, so everyone in 2259 should be gay and Paul Feig should direct. This week I'm joined by the beautiful and talented, Jacqui Duncan. She's an actress, comedian and voiceover artist. And she's in search of a husband because unless she gets a green card, she's being deported back to Australia at the end of this month. She describes her ideal man in this episode, and maybe this is just my ego talking, but it sounds exactly like me. https://www.instagram.com/jacquiduncan/ I'm also joined by Rucka Rucka Ali, who thinks t-shirts grow on trees. There are no free shirts, stop asking. It was a stupid joke. The debate this week is about Pokemon Go: it has over 65 million downloads, so naturally it's going to have its critics. I masterfully debate both sides of the issue, for and against the phenomenon. Speaking of, here's the clip of the guy who falls into a pond while playing Pokemon Go: https://youtu.be/LzPtFz-baMg And here's a news clip about the cop who lodges a bullet into the chamber of a guy who tried to rob him. The 9 News anchor from the episode claims, "this was effective." The Best Debate in the Universe - Episode #120 - Is it possible to be authentic on YouTube? Blaire White
play

10/08/18 • 97 min

Debate starts at: 5:34. Is it possible to be authentic on the Internet? Blaire White joins us to debate this week on the debate. Underlying all drama, clickbait and outrage on the Internet (and cable news) for that matter, is the profit motive. There’s no incentive to write reasonable headlines, promote moderate points of views and create content that is fair to the subject. Instead, people tend to go for the most base content because it gets clicks and it’s easy to make. That’s a brilliant thesis. You’re welcome. Plus: big announcement about a new show! Watch the video version here at Madcast Media Network YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChMUFeIZ1l9uRJ4bIXuAKDg?sub_confirmation=1 Special thanks to our sponsor, Eliquid.com! But specifically, using them in a way that makes video rental stores, audible and book stores obsolete. Hey, worked for book stores Ron! I call bullshit for the first time on a Babcock Tip. Make your voice heard: vote! And here’s my newest book, F*ck Whales: Petty essays from a brilliant mind: http://amzn.to/2CdkfSI We finally round out this episode with some stories about a girl who made a list of 22 rules for her boyfriend, an exit-interview for your exes, and a dipshit kid in Utah who shredded $1,060 cash that his parents were saving. Episode #2 - The Patient Right-To-Die act

The Best Debate in the Universe

play

06/14/16 • 54 min

This week: the Patient Right-To-Die act, my psychotic neighbor assaults someone with a bottle (and I brought in the audio of it), and I'm joined by satirist, Rucka Rucka Ali who moderates the debate. In short, the Patient Right-To-Die act is a law that lets people who are terminally ill and suffering to end their lives legally (or for doctors to prescribe them lethal, pain-free medication). The law passed, but has 15 stipulations and requirements before people can exercise this right (legally anyway). I give a hearty argument for both sides of the debate, and suggest the law should be extended to people suffering from non-stop Game of Thrones tweets. But all joking aside, if you or someone you know is having suicidal ideation, please call 1-800-273-8255. And the saga with my neighbor continues... my psychotic neighbor who, in the past has sprayed water into my open car window, punched me in the chest and chased an Amazon delivery girl around the block has, now sunk to a new low: she assaulted someone with a bottle. It's easy to dismiss her as simply being "crazy," but there's method to her madness because when I've called the police on her in the past, she immediately pretends to be normal as soon as the cops arrive, but the second they leave or even turn their back to her, she goes right back to being a bitch. I suspect her shitty behavior has more to do with alcohol than dementia. Also Rucka gives us a sneak-preview of his new song, "Everything is Racist." Very funny and apropos song for the climate we live in today. Rucka moderates the debate and has his own buzzer to use when he wants to call me out. Spoiler: there's no need to use the buzzer ever, but he finds a way.
