Self care is not an expense and is an investment in your emotional and mental health as well as it is a necessity. You have to get a clear understanding of what self care means to you. Set intentions and plan on how you want your day to go. Be intentional with your self care goals. Make it a routine and stay consistent.
Look at your current routine and determine which activity can be replaced with a self care activity. Track your progress and monitor the shifts that you feel in your energy from investing in yourself.
SIGNS YOU NEED MORE SELF CARE
- Difficulty sleeping
- Sleeping to much
- Always tired no matter how much sleep you get
- Lack of energy
- Feelings of anxiousness
- Feelings of stress
- Lack of appetite
- Lack of focus
- Lack of motivation
- Feeling emotional
Self care helps to build resilience against daily stressors. It will help you improve the way you react to situations, problem solve and the way in which you view the world.
To improve self care you must focus on all aspects (physical, social, mental, spiritual and emotional).
Physically
- Physically how are you caring for yourself?
- Are you getting adequate rest?
- Are you fueling your body with the proper nutrients?
- Are you keeping your body active?
Socially
- Are you getting enough time with family and friends?
- What are you doing to nourish those relationships that are important to you?
Mentally
Mentally you need to stay sharp and participate in things that stimulate your mind.
- Read a book
- Watch a stimulating movie
- Complete a puzzle
- Journal
Spiritually
- Nurture your spirit
Emotionally
- What are you doing to better yourself and understand your emotions
- Crying is cleansing
If something feels wrong, don't do it. Do what feels right to your soul. Say what you mean and do not feel guilty about it. Avoid the need to be a people pleaser. Avoid negative self talk and be kind and lenient to yourself. Let go of things that are out of your control. Avoid negativity, bad vibes and drama.

Day in and day out of life we often forget to take the time to stop and be grateful for what we are, where we are and how we are.
2020 has been a year of many trials and tribulations. Now is the perfect time to reflect on the things that you have to be thankful for. The universe needs to know that you are grateful for those things that you have learned, earned and gained before you can then move on in life to learn, earn and gain even more. There is always a silver lining and it is up to you to find it.
Gratitude should not be something that you show once in a while but instead should be something that you incorporate into your everyday life. It should be a way of living. It could change your life in ways you would have never even imagined.
It is time to fall in love with the life that you already have. At some point in life you dreamed of this exact moment of being where you currently are.
What are some ways to show gratitude?:
1. Wake up with a grateful heart.
2. Show your gratitude throughout the day.
Why should you practice a gratitude attitude?:
1. Being grateful protects you from a negative attitude.
2. Gratitude rewires your brain to increase your happiness.
3. Decreases stress levels.
4. Decreases depression.
5. Boosts self-esteem.
6. Helps create momentum.
Here is an activity I would like you to do:
1. Come up with 3 things you are grateful for.
2. Come up with 3 things for each of the things in #1 that you would not be able to do without the answers given in #1.
3. Reflect on #1 and #2.
4. Use that momentum and go do more that you can be proud of.

We become so comfortable with the things that we do daily because of ease and routine.
Without change from our daily routines we become stagnant in areas of our life. We lack or lose motivation and therefore do not push as hard as we should from where we are to where we want to be,
The same thing day in an day is when you begin to go on autopilot and tune out certain pieces of the routine because of familiarity. However, when we tune out pieces of the routine could we also be tuning out pieces of ourselves?
We have to begin to embrace the feeling of discomfort and push past our limits to become even stronger and resilient in our lives.
Everything worth anything has some degree of difficulty and discomfort.
Do not allow your comfort kill your creativity.

In this episode we will discuss intentions.
What is an intention?
How is an intention different from a goal?
So how do you set an intention? Some of the things to think about include:
Where are you in your life right now? Are you living your purpose? Are you walking in your truth? What do you stand for? What are your morals and values?
Your intention should make you want to jump out of bed with excitement. It should make you feel...
How do you set an intention?
- Frame it in a present and positive tense. Avoid using negative words when setting an intention. Avoid phrases and words such as I should, I want, I need, or I hope.
- Focus on the things you want instead of focusing on the things that you do not want.
- Set a time limit on the intention that you are setting.
- Revisit the intention and check in with yourself.
- Alter your intentions to reflect where you are on your journey.
How is setting an intention more beneficial than setting a goal?

African American women struggle to find quality friends and this is coming from experience.
In my opinion, I feel that any women put themselves in a box and block themselves out from forming friendships with other women. Is it because we are afraid, feel threatened? Is it because we are in competition?
For one woman to be threatened by another says that she may not be comfortable in the skin that she is in. So, she creates and builds a wall which blocks her from forming relationships.
Is it some insecurities that hold us back from forming these necessary bonds?
We can not continue to allow the wall block us from being our best selves and attracting quality friends. We have to stop allowing the past and our insecurities dictate the future and who we are becoming now...
This should be a time when we see other women uniting and bonding instead of blocking, tearing each other down and being in competition with one another...
