The effect of ADHD medication
Explicit content warning

In this episode of the Special Needs Supermom Podcast I talk about the effect of ADHD medication. Unfortunately there is still a lot of controversy about ADHD medication. Whether it is really necessary, that it will turn you into a zombie, that all you need to do is take away the distractions and make it interesting. I got my ADHD diagnose at age 45. As part of my diagnoses and therapy I tried out medication. This is my story of the mind-blowing effect it had on me. And no, not because I turned into a zombie. I hope it will take some of the fear away if your kid is really struggling and your kids’ specialist suggests trying out meds.

My top tips to avoid burnout as a special needs mom
In episode 62 of the Special Needs Supermom podcast I share my top tips to avoid burnout as a special needs mom. As a special needs parent we face a lot. No wonder burnout is a real thing amongst us special needs moms. Not that we mention it of course. But I get you momma and I’ve been there. Heck, sometimes I still have days like this. Besides the fact there can be all kinds of different reasons for feeling like this (which I will talk about in another episode), luckily there are ways that can help you going from feeling burned out to having a burnout. Whatever the root of the burnout may be. I hope these tips help you to relax, find joy and recharge even on the worst days.
Stay sane and stay happy.

Depression in Special Needs Children: quite common, why, what to do and what NOT to.
Depression in Special Needs Children: quite common, why, what to do and what NOT to. Let’s talk depression mom. I know it sucks. If I could I would bubble wrap my kids and safely store it away in a safe, nice and happy place to protect them from pain, the exclusion, the hurtful comments... But I can’t.
Our kids learn at an early age that they are different. That things won’t come easy, that they might not be able to pursue their dream. Have to give up their favorite sport. If they even can. Now throw in chronic pain and fatigue, frustrations because your classmates and even your family doesn’t get it. Oh and hello hormones. Yay. No, wonder teens with a chronic illness or brains wired differently have a higher chance to get a depression. As a parent it is the most awful experience to witness. Avoidable? No, not always. So, what can you do? What should you say? Let me share my and kids’ experience, insights, and tips.
