Producer Jaime ("Jemmy") Legagneur founded the Flint Stone Media Podcast Network as a Florida-focused set of shows aimed at positively impacting my local community. FSMPN is an organic and entertaining collection of podcasts that increases local innovation, explores the arts, and encourages collaboration through insights, information, and a lot of laughs. She is well versed in helping podcasters in getting started and staying motivated to keep their podcasts relevant.
On this episode, I wanted to know the personal side of Jaime. Even thought she is not a veteran, her expertise and insight is helping everyone including veterans to help people start and grow their podcast throughout her courses, ClubHouse, and Instagram.
Listen in as we do lots of laughing (I mean a lot) and discuss her love of zombies, and why she hates her right lung to her love of wanting to skydive but absolutely hates roller coasters. It was a fun podcast to say the least.
Producer Jaime Legagneur is the host and producer of her own show, Business in the Bedroom, and has grown her business producing podcasts and managing podcast networks. She first founded her business, Flint Stone Media, as a digital marketing firm before discovering podcasting in 2014 and launching her first show, Curve the Cube. She began working as a Production Coordinator for the Horse Radio Network in the summer of 2017, eventually working her way up to being their Production Manager. During this time, she honed her podcasting skills and began helping other independent podcasters launch shows, focusing Flint Stone Media to be a podcast production house and winning the 2017 “In Yo Face” podcasting award.
She spent the following years honing her podcasting expertise and founded the Florida Podcast Network in August 2017. A Floridian since 1982, creating a network centered around her home state was a natural fit. She then began growing her FPN vision into a reality, by helping local brands and businesses get into the space and propel Florida’s entrepreneurial prosperity forward through the power of podcasting! Horse Radio Network founder, Glenn “the Geek” Hebert, now travels around the State with Jaime as cohost for FPN’s flagship show, Finding Florida, and they also host Florida Podcasting News. Most recently, she launched People of Florida as her first solo show in over two years!
Since then, Jaime has also been the organizer of the Palm Beach Podcasters MeetUp group and the Director of The Wedding Biz Network. Most recently, Jaime earned the privilege of not only being the first Podcasting Instructor for the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, but also receiving Podfest‘s 2020 High Achiever Award.
Like most Floridians, though Jaime wasn’t BORN in the Sunshine State, she proudly claims it. After first living in Miami for a couple of years, her family moved north to Boca Raton, where she grew up. They planted roots there and witnessed the town develop around them.
Jaime attended Pine Crest Schools in Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale and then studied business at Tulane University (B.S. in Information Systems Management and Finance, minor in Psychology) and law at the University of Virginia.

Lana Stevenson"Strength Through Adversity: A Mother-Daughter Journey of Fitness and Hope Against Cancer"
I met Lana online because we are both certified Cancer Exercise Specialists. I also found out her 'why". Her daughter is battling stage 4 colon cancer. I wondered how she was dealing with the fact that she is healthy and fit but her daughter isn't and how she emotionally was dealing with this fact while trying to help her daughter. This was an amazing conversation.
Lana Stevenson, is the owner of Resilience Shift, and a Cancer Exercise Specialist. Resilience Shift focuses on using movement and nutrition for chronic disease prevention to achieve longevity while createig safe and effective exercise programming to help people live longer with a better quality of life.
I have been a competitive athlete most of my life. From achieving a Black belt in Shotokan Karate, to running 20+ Marathons and numerous other distance races at a high level, I branched into Personal Training and coaching as a career for the past 30 years and have run my own Personal Training studio for 30 years. I truly love what I do with a passion.
My younger daughter has been fighting stage 4 colon cancer for the past 9 years. She has endured 6 lung metastases resulting in 5 lung surgeries plus 1 series of radiation and ablation, 2 ovary metastases resulting in both ovaries being removed, numerous inoperable tumors in her pelvic area and 4 rounds of chemotherapy lasting 3 to 6 months each. Not to mention the Opioid addiction resulting from long term use.
As a single mom and sole provider, I have had to move through this exceedingly difficult journey and figure out each new step alone, while keeping my personal training business going. As you can imagine, this has been no easy feat, especially when I have felt emotionally depleted, still always keeping my daughter the number one priority.
Historically, cancer patients were told to rest as much as possible and to save their energy especially while going through treatment. Exercise did not seem like a possibility. However, science is now showing the opposite. Movement is extremely beneficial even while going through treatment, even the smallest amount.
One just needs to know how to exercise safely!
Since my daughter’s diagnosis, I made it my mission to study exercise for the different types of cancers, treatments, surgeries, etc. So, I become certified as a Cancer Exercise Specialist through CETI (Cancer Exercise Training Institute).
I now create personalized programs for cancer survivors so that they can safely gain the benefit of exercise, physically, mentally and emotionally, and regain some sense of normalcy and independence.

Melissa A. Washington - Navy Veteran and Women Veterans Alliance Founder/CEO
I have known Melissa for awhile now - maybe 3 years and since starting this podcast I knew I wanted her to be a guest on Sisters-in-Service. Listen in as we discuss, military service, veteran status for women, how the Women Veterans Alliance (WVA) started and her 3 tips for women leaving service.
Melissa A. Washington, a Navy Veteran is the CEO and Founder of Women Veterans Alliance. She is a disabled veteran small business owner, speaker, entrepreneur, author, and award winner who is connecting women veterans across the nation.
Melissa proudly served in the Navy and rather than shoulder the burden of a dual-service family, she decided to leave the military early to pursue a career while her husband spent 21 years on active duty in the United State Marine Corps. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business management and transitioned into a successful career in recruiting and human resources for more than 10 years working for both boutique agencies and global Fortune 500 companies.
Melissa was laid off from her job in 2009 due to a failing economy, marking the beginning of a nearly two-year journey and career reinvention that allowed her to use her experience to help others. It all started with holding LinkedIn workshops for job seekers at her dining room table then speaking at venues across the nation. In 2011, she started Melissa Washington, Inc. which offers consulting services to businesses and individuals using LinkedIn for researching, recruiting, job seeking and collaborating. Her journey, took a little detour for 4 years as she worked at LinkedIn, planning Global Corporate Meeting & Events. 2014 authored Get Back to Work: Smart & Savvy Real-World Strategies to Make Your Next Career Move.
In 2015 she got women veterans together to meet at a local Mexican restaurant where Women Veterans Alliance started! Not long after, partnered with James R. Morrison Photography for the "What Does a Woman Veteran Look Like?" Portrait Project. In 2018 Melissa founded Women Veterans Giving, Inc. In 2019 became an Advisor to AVOW (American Veteran Organization of Women)magazine.
In May 2020 she was featured in VAntage Point, the Official Blog of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, in an article titled, "Melissa Washington: Breaking Barriers". She has been featured in Sacramento Business Journal as well as other magazines and newspapers. Sought out speaker as well. Melissa is a go to person for media when it comes to women veterans. TV interviews on ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox. Including a segment on the Dr. Phil Show and Lifetime Channel, The Balancing Act. Radio includes Sirius XM, KFBK AM1530, iHeart, national podcasts, AM1170 and more.
Her husband of 25 years, Jarrod is a retired Marine who served in combat in Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). They are proud parents to Maya. Melissa is the daughter of Bronze Star Army Vietnam War Veteran. Granddaughter of WWII Army Air Corp/Air Force Veteran 509th Bomb Squad AC who had 37 missions over Germany and received the Bronze Star & Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters.
