Restoring Innate Health

Michael Edson is a co-founder and President of Natural Eye Care, Inc. He is a licensed acupuncturist and certified herbalist. He is co-author of Natural Eye Care: A Comprehensive Manual for Practitioners of Oriental Medicine and Natural Eye Care: Your Guide to Healthy Vision and Healing, 2019. He's also written Natural Parkinson's Support: Your Guide to Preventing & Managing Parkinson's, 2020 and Natural Brain Support: Ways to Help Prevent and Treat Dementia and Alzheimer's Naturally, 2021.

His personal mission as an acupuncturist and health care practitioner is to help his patients overcome their health condition(s), and provide them with necessary tools and guidance to be able to engage in their own healing process.

He believes in the natural healing process of the body, and that we ultimately have to rely on this process to gain and maintain health. He believes that dis-ease typically takes a long time to manifest, and is the result of a long term energy disturbance within the mind, body and/or spirit. Dis-ease can result from excess stress (emotional and/or physical), poor diet, lack of exercise, genetic disposition, exposure to chemicals or pesticides, excess repetitive motions, or any combination of the above. There are also conditions that result from injury and trauma, and these can be usually be helped as well through Chinese medicine.

#85 You Were Not Born Broken: Dani Williamson, MSN, FNP

A graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Nurse-Midwifery and Family Nurse Practitioner program, Dani Williamson practices the art of medicine by balancing traditional and integrative therapies.

She was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome in 1985 and Lupus in her early 30’s and then, not surprisingly, prescribed psych medications to manage her emotions. Not once was she ever told “your diet controls your symptoms” or asked “what are you eating?” by the 10 specialists she saw over 24 years. She continued eating a Standard American Diet as her symptoms progressed, and prescriptions to treat those increased as well. It wasn’t until she began practicing integrative medicine after graduating from nurse practitioner school that she was educated on the importance of healing the gut.

Dani owns Integrative Family Medicine in Franklin, TN, where she focuses on gut, thyroid, hormone and adrenal health with her patients. Her approach embodies a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual process to healing. She believes God designed our bodies to heal themselves in our 40’s, 50’s, 60’s or even 70’s.

Her first book Wild & Well: Dani’s Six Commonsense Steps to Radical Healing is being released November 9, 2021. She believes your health is not rocket science, and healing shouldn’t be either.

#87 Exposing Protein Myths: Dr. Gabrielle Lyon

Dr. Lyon received her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board-certified in family medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she studied vitamin and mineral metabolism, chronic disease prevention and management and the physiological effects of diet composition. She also completed a research/clinical fellowship in Nutritional Science and Geriatrics at Washington University in St. Louis.

Muscle-Centric Medicine® is the most revolutionary aspect of Dr. Lyon’s methods. Her ground-breaking concepts eliminate unwanted body fat and build muscle, allowing for continued metabolism boosts and long-term wellness. The key is to eat the right kinds of protein, and enough of them, at each meal. This stimulates the body’s natural muscle-building process, called “muscle protein synthesis”.

Muscle-Centric Medicine® dramatically improves your muscle health through a protein-smart diet, exercise, and lifestyle shifts. The benefits are astounding:

  • Improve your long-term health
  • Restore your metabolism
  • Reduce chronic disease risk and symptoms
  • Slim and strengthen your body
  • Boost energy levels and feelings of wellness
