Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life

Send one way text to Rev Rachel

Guilt, shame and blame are what keep us from connection to our Higher Power and following our spiritual path to a happy and healthy life. Saying 'let it go' is easy, actually allowing ourselves to stop feeling guilty about our past, and punishing others for their past is Soul Recovery. When we can recognize how much of our energy is tied up in experiences and feelings in our past, we can do the work to forgive ourselves and those who have hurt us and use that energy to create a life free from those painful bonds. We can move past the pain, connect with our Higher Power and be our True and happy selves.

Bonus- Al-Anon Book Study - The Peace of the Serenity Prayer

Send one way text to Rev Rachel

This Bonus Episode first aired for the Apple Podcast Subscribers and Patreon Members on March 4, 2022. I wanted to share this along with the other episodes for 7 weeks that were a book study on some of the Al-Anon topics important to Soul Recovery as a Bonus to the community.
As we continue or book study of 'How Al-Anon Works for Families & Friends of Alcoholics" and finishing chapter 10 on Changed Attitudes and the last few sections that cover the Serenity Prayer and Serenity.

The serenity prayer is a beautiful and simple reminder to accept others and circumstances for what they are and to have the courage to take responsibility for our own happiness and spiritual growth. "In the Serenity Prayer, we turn to the God of our understanding for the attributes necessary to live a life more fully: serenity, courage, and wisdom."

God grant me the serenity

To Accept the things I cannot change,

Courage to change the things I can,

And wisdom to know the difference.

For the Apple subscribers and Patreon Members we are studying the book "How Al-Anon Works for Families and Friends of Alcoholics." We are now on chapter 11 which is on Detachment, Love and Forgiveness. This episode is the section about Forgiveness- a foundation of Soul Recovery. In this episode I reflect on this powerful message in this chapter on releasing the resentments that are tearing us apart inside. We learn about detaching from the behavior of addiction and the humans involved and taking our power back by what we choose to think and feel.
