I had asked the Patreon Members for what they wanted to hear more about- Kellye and Stacey had similar questions about how to stay calm and centered when faced with challenges. "I would love to hear more about staying calm and turning within, when faced with a challenge. I sometimes get out of control quickly and start to spiral into panic mode, completely forgetting that I have Higher Power right here to guide me. It's like I need something to smack me and say 'snap out of it!' " In this episode I talk about strengthening your Spiritual Practice so you have your tools ready when they are needed in any situation.

Guilt, shame and blame are what keep us from connection to our Higher Power and following our spiritual path to a happy and healthy life. Saying 'let it go' is easy, actually allowing ourselves to stop feeling guilty about our past, and punishing others for their past is Soul Recovery. When we can recognize how much of our energy is tied up in experiences and feelings in our past, we can do the work to forgive ourselves and those who have hurt us and use that energy to create a life free from those painful bonds. We can move past the pain, connect with our Higher Power and be our True and happy selves.

In Soul Recovery we turn the attention to our selves knowing that with inner change- outer change in our lives will follow. In a moment of stress recently, I asked Higher Power to help me see the situation differently. The words that came to me were... "It is as I choose to see it." This was clearly a foundational message of Soul Recovery. We can choose how we are going to see the world around us. Will you choose Love or Fear.

Being an addict has been a hard journey. Having addicted children has been painful too. Al-Anon and Soul Recovery have taught me to turn the attention to myself and to focus on my personal recovery, and allow those around me to have their own experience.
This episode is a conversation with my youngest adult Son, Bodhi Harrison. It was so great to have him in town and I wanted to sit down and have him share what is going on in his life and his Soul Recovery. The first half of the episode is about his current spiritual journey and connection to Higher Power as he understands it. The second half of the episode is a conversation about where he is currently in his addiction and his relationship with drinking and smoking pot, the choices he is making in his life at 23 years old, and trying to find life balance. Having a child with addiction is not easy for any parent. My Son had the genetics for drug and alcohol addiction and was raised by alcoholic parents, so it is not surprising that this has been an issue in his life. As a recovered addict, it has been painful to watch his life be difficult as I worked my Soul Recovery to let him find his own path. The great news is that since the beginning of the year Alex has made a change in his life and found a new love for himself and better a solution for a happy and healthy life. Allowing your children to follow their own path is not easy.. but it is a foundation of Soul Recovery.

It can be hard to see how we may have harmed someone or why we should make an amend when we feel deeply hurt by others in our lives. In this episode we talk about how amends offer healing in our Soul Recovery Journey. When we can take responsibility for all of our behaviors as we continue to turn the attention to ourselves, we open to even deeper self forgiveness and peace in our lives. We may not have any control of anything outside of ourselves, but we can clean up our side of the street and make sure that we are choosing to follow a spiritual path to a happy and healthy life.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we'll ever do." Berne Brown
4 years ago I was in a depression and had lost hope for a better life. I was deep in my addictions of drinking, codependence, people pleasing and trying to control world around me. I had completely lost myself in the darkness of a life that felt out of control and unmanageable. Then I took the brave step into Soul Recovery- this was the start of learning to love myself and remember that there is always hope. It wasn't stopping drinking that bettered my life, it was the spiritual awakening that transformed my life from the inside out.

As we come to the end of season three, I wanted to share some of the popular episodes from this year that aired for the Apple Podcast subscribers and Patreon Members.
This episode is from a line in the 3rd step prayer of AA and Al-Anon "Release me of the bondage of self." This has been a powerful part of my Soul Recovery journey as I learn that I have a choice in how I see the world around me, what I think about myself, and letting go of what others think about me. So much of my pain was due to my perception and projection as I interacted with people or situations in my life. With the deeper connection to my Higher Power I have found an emotional freedom that has changed my life forever.
God,
I offer myself to Thee
To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
That victory over them may bear witness
To those I would help of Thy Power,
Thy love and Thy way of life,
May I do Thy will always!
