How to Position Yourself as an Authority by Speaking on Virtual Stages with Heather Sager

I've always loved speaking in front of a group -- it's something that I'm grateful has always come naturally to me. It's exciting to get up on stage or in front of a room, look people in the eyes, and connect with them through stories or teaching or coaching. I love every minute of it!
Maybe it goes back to my childhood and teenage years of being in musical theater -- I remember how it felt to come out on stage on opening night with the butterflies in my stomach, only to have them subside within minutes as all eyes fell on our production.
Today, as part of my business, I get to speak in front of groups A LOT! From podcasts to summits to live video to presenting at events -- speaking is a huge part of my job. And it's a skill I've been working to hone over the past few months so I can be even better at it!
That's where Heather Sager enters the picture. Last fall, as we prepared for Online Business Con 2020, I KNEW that I needed to work with a speaking coach to perfect my signature talk to open our two-day virtual conference. And Heather was the first person I called. Over the new few weeks, she helped me wrangle all of my ideas, refine my stories, and bring my talk to life. I told Heather when we started working together that I wanted my "Barack Obama Moment." If you've ever heard President Obama speak, you know what I'm talking about. That moment when time slips away and you're focused on every thoughtfully picked word leaving his lips. That's what I was after! And while I have a long way to go before I reach Obama speaking level, I feel well on my way thanks to Heather and her guidance!
After we finished working together I begged her to be a guest on The Online Business Show and she said YES! So, on today's episode, Heather joins me to share how YOU can position yourself as an authority by speaking on virtual stages. I'm a huge believer in the fact that it's a heck of a lot easier to build your audience by getting in front of someone else's -- and Heather is sharing how you can do just that on today's podcast episode.
As a former executive, Heather has spoken on stages around the world and personally trained hundreds of 6 & 7 figure business owners. Along the way she's learned that success is determined by your ability to articulate your vision and get others on board. I can't wait for you to learn from her on the podcast. Enjoy!

What I’m Looking Forward To This Year
Whenever I talk about being vulnerable I always mention putting my Brené Brown Britches on (in honor of the legendary professor, research, and author made famous by Oprah for her work on vulnerability, leadership, and belonging). Well, today's episode of The Online Business Show required me to put on every pair of Brené Brown Britches that I own...because y'all...shit is getting real!
In my first episode of 2021, I'm breaking down what happened in our business last year, the lessons we learned, and what we're doing differently in 2021. I'm sharing how we LOST money last year, how we stayed agile in the early days of the COVID pandemic, the lessons learned from pivoting our business in a truly unpredictable year, and how we become more grounded in our values through trying times and scary decisions.
And, I'm talking about what I'm looking forward to this year in my business based on everything I learned last year. I'm talking about how we are streamlining our operations in 2021 to help increase our impact, how we are strengthening our team, what we're doing to perfect our customer experience, and some super-secret news that I wasn't supposed to share yet about a brand new program we are launching later this year.
If you've been craving more REAL business talk about the good, bad, and ugly of online entrepreneurship or you're just nosy about what's going on in my company, then you're going to love today's episode!
PS: One time, at an event I was hosting, Amy Porterfield tried to reference Brené Brown Britches after I mentioned them in an earlier talk. Instead, she called them "Brené Brown's Panties." Needless to say, we all had a good laugh and Amy learned that those aren't the same things. Sorry, Amy (and sorry Brené).

The Visionary and Integrator Relationship in Our Online Business with Whitney Newman
Feeling nosy? Want a peek inside of my business? You've got it! Today on the Online Business Show, I'm joined by Whitney Newman - Operations Manager for my business - as we discuss the visionary and integrator relationship and how we run our company! This is a conversation I've wanted to share for a long time and something so many of you have asked for. During today's episode, Whitney and I chat about how she started at our company, what a visionary is and what an integrator is, and how we work together.
In particular, we're covering topics like boundaries and balance in our work, how we partner together to get 💩 done on a daily basis, and how to ensure your relationship as a visionary and integrator stays positive and healthy.
We were really inspired to record this episode after listening to OTHER entrepreneurs talk about how they work with their integrator and feeling soooo uncomfortable and super cringy about the lack of boundaries or balance in how they work together. So, we want to give you a different perspective on how to hire, train, and support the Number Two in your business. We don't get it right all the time and we are still learning - every single day - BUT, Whitney and I are proud of what we've built and how to work together to support our team, our community, and reach our goals!
