Understanding how your Child’s Mental Health Impacts Their Learning
10/04/22 • 49 min
With the start of the new school year, it is SO important that we talk about what your child needs to succeed. We know that success looks different for EVERY child. One major way we set children up for success during the school year is to think critically about the many ways that we can support their Mental health, and that's what this series is about.
This is the LAST episode of the Back-to-School Series. The series has been AMAZING, and I hope you had the opportunity to listen to all the episodes!!!
This week we have the amazing Dr. Jessica Meister. In this episode, we talk about how your child’s mental health can impact their learning. We covered so much including how children become aware of their learning differences and how these differences can impact their self-esteem. We discussed how the narratives children create about their academic functioning impact their mental health. Dr. Meister shared how important it is for caregivers to think critically about their child’s behavior and the importance of your child’s learning environment. We ended the episode with Dr. Meister’s top tips on what cues parents and caregivers can take into consideration when their child is having difficulty in the school setting.
