Ep 121 Creating Joy Drives Purpose and Fulfillment in Midlife
Midlife Fulfilled Podcast: Thriving in Life, Career, and Leadership.
10/05/23 • 15 min
Welcome to episode 121 a takeaway episode from my conversation with Eric Wiechart on episode 120.
Eric and I had a very meaningful conversation about his experience in the Inspired Leadership Initiative (ILI) at the University of Notre Dame. Here are three key discussion points from our conversation:
1️⃣ Embrace Small Businesses
2️⃣ Overcome Transition Challenges
3️⃣ The Power of Cohort
Throughout his career, Eric acquired multiple small businesses/startups and ran them successfully. His most recent business, a glass company was transitioned to his daughter through a seven-year transition plan.
Eric didn’t want another idea for a business, or a job. Eric realized that creating joy for others gives him joy.
But, if you’ve been doing something for decades and you reach a point where you ask yourself, am I creating joy, maybe the answer to that question is not what you want it to be. It wasn’t for Eric Wiechart.
Eric realized that at this stage in his life, creating joy is his purpose. He’s doing it through many activities, not just one. He’s advising and coaching, as well as maintaining a sense of creating joy in all his relationships.
My challenge for you is to ask yourself, what role does creating joy for others play in your midlife fulfillment journey?

Ep 73 Awaken Your Creative Spirit to Find Fulfillment in Midlife
Midlife Fulfilled Podcast: Thriving in Life, Career, and Leadership.
04/19/23 • 10 min
Welcome to my takeaway episode from my conversation with Anne Witherspoon on episode 72 about her three BF to AF journeys culminating in harnessing her creativity and finding fulfillment.
In my takeaway episode, I'm discussing the importance of becoming self-aware of our creative talents and how pursuing them can bring tremendous fulfillment into our lives.
Many of us have talents that we may not even be aware of. It's crucial to give ourselves permission to explore and pursue them. When we do, we open up a world of possibilities that can lead to a life filled with creativity and passion.
However, many people are afraid to share their creations with the world. But it's crucial to embrace our creativity and overcome our fear of judgment. We should do it for ourselves and for the fulfillment it brings.
Anne Whitherspoon, who wrote a book to help others avoid mistakes she's made, is a great example of this. She overcame the thought that no one else was interested in her creation and wrote the book for herself.
In midlife, it's important to be mindful of who we are and to discover and pursue our creative talents. If you feel the need to create something, go for it!
My challenge to you is to answer this question.
What is your creative talent? If you know it, what are you doing with it? If you don't know it, there are many ways to find your creative outlet. What have you been putting off such as writing a book, taking guitar or dance lessons, learning to code, mentoring teenagers, or volunteering at an assisted living facility?
Giving yourself permission to find and pursue your creative talent can move the needle on the fulfillment meter in your soul. So, explore your options and see where they take you.
Leave me a voice message to tell me how you're pursuing your creative talents.

Ep 176 Human Design Explained for Purpose and Relationship Dynamics
Midlife Fulfilled Podcast: Thriving in Life, Career, and Leadership.
04/22/24 • 30 min
Episode 176 features Vickie Dickson, a lifelong entrepreneur and certified holistic nutritionist who specializes in using human design as a tool to guide intentionality in this journey we call life.
Vickie explains the concept of human design as a practice that captures an individual's energy patterns, identifying your strengths, and talents. She reviewed my human design chart, revealing that I am a "projector" in human design terminology.
Three key discussion points include:
1️⃣ Understanding Human Design: Vickie explained that human design is a snapshot of the moment of birth and three months before, showing how our energy is meant to work, our strengths, talents, and areas where we may face challenges in life.
2️⃣ Human Design in Relationships: We discussed how human design can be used to improve relationships by providing insights into individual designs, allowing for better understanding and appreciation of each other.
3️⃣ Harnessing Vision and Intuition: Vickie uncovered fascinating elements of my human design, explaining how it aligns with my visionary approach and intuitive understanding of people, providing meaningful insights into my leadership and communication style.
Questions to ponder:
What role does human design play in guiding us to uncover our purpose and live a more fulfilled life, especially in midlife?
What insights did you learn about me from Vickie Dickson's analysis of my human design chart, and how do these insights align with my Midlife Fulfilled podcast?
How can human design be applied to the 5 pillars: health, fitness, career, relationships, and legacy, and how does it provide a broader understanding of these pillars?
Key Takeaway from this episode with Vickie Dickson:
Understanding human design can provide profound insights into our strengths, challenges, and relationships, contributing to more fulfilling and purpose-driven lives.

Ep 61 Living With No Fear: Why Planning Your Death Can Be Joyful
Midlife Fulfilled Podcast: Thriving in Life, Career, and Leadership.
03/08/23 • 17 min
On this midweek solo episode, I share with you my main takeaway from my conversation with Mike McKeown on episode 60.
Mike made two key points. One is that he found a meaningful purpose later in life beyond the usual career, family, and finances. In Mike's case, he discovered the meaning of fulfillment through serving others, which is pleasing to God.
In this solo takeaway episode, I chose to focus on Mike's other point about reconciling your relationship with your creator by making a conscious decision about your beliefs pertaining to your life after death.
On this episode, I share my personal journey to faith and my beliefs about life after death. My journey wasn't a straight path. It didn't happen overnight. I was influenced in part by the story of Lee Strobel who wrote the book The Case for Christ (and 19 other books).
As you listen to me share Lee Strobel's story and how it influenced me, I challenge you to think about what plans you have made for your eternity. If that sounds like an odd question, I'll remind you that the death rate is 100%. I'm going to die someday. You're going to die someday. What are your plans?
