Because much of my work has been helping people heal from trauma and abuse, I have been asked to comment on the recent school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. In this podcast I will be sharing some suggestions of how you can:

1) Release and heal from any trauma you might feel in the wake of this tragedy.

2) Suggestions as to what you can do to answer deeper questions like: Why did this shooting happen? Why do these things continue to happen? And is there something that I can do about it?

Programs for Healing and Recovering from
Trauma, Crisis, and Preventing PTSD

You don’t have to be there at ground zero to be impacted and even profoundly traumatized by an event as horrific as the Newtown Massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Even President Obama cried.

Dealing effectively with such challenges requires you to:

Phase 1. Go through the appropriate grieving period with sufficient relaxation that you do not develop post-traumatic stress issues, yet remain sensitive and responsive to the naturally healing feelings of grief.
Phase 2. Discover what it is that you need to learn from what has happened.
Phase 3. Develop the focus, courage, and commitment to take the actions that you know are the right ones, no matter how difficult.

Phase I – Surviving the Initial Trauma and Feelings of Loss

Use the following programs while there are still acute symptoms of shock, sadness, grief, despair, and depression – it may continue for one or more weeks. Their use may be continued into later phases of recovery and renaissance.

Creating Your Island of Peace Meditation

This FREE guided imagery experience is a perfect way to begin to learn to heal deeply. Because stress is such a major factor in our individual as well as collective illness and dysfunction, the most powerful tool in combating it is deep relaxation.

Deep relaxation directly inhibits the brain neurons that cause the stress reaction and the resulting ills.
