Spring is in the air! New season means time to open up to new ways to self-care. Today's episode is a few things I'm trying along with a few tips for all of us to transition into the new season with a "spring" in our step. Start your morning off with a stretch - 15 minutes Plan Meals with Spring Produce. Getting outside for more/longer walks - Longer days means more daylight for you to fill Reorganizing your closet - what can you Marie Kondo? What can you donate? Put away the winter clothes and pull out your spring and summer closet. Start a mini herb garden or get started on your own garden. Changing up my home scents - more floral candles, the lilac and honeysuckle Meyers room spray, Scent Air Black Orchid scent sticks. Take a break from social media. I haven’t posted in over a week and I weirdly feel behind but invigorated. Find a week break. Exfoliating - Spring is a chance to start showing off our legs more, meaning more shaving. We take the time to Self-Care in order to rejuvenate ourselves in big scales but also in small scales. Use these small act to grant yourself a daily hug! Here's a few of my favorite self-care hacks that are under rated: Get out and walk - Dog or no dog... get out there. Feel Good Playlist - I list several of my favorites in the episode Cooking yourself a good Clean Meal That hot evening shower or bath Unplugging for 10-15 minutes - Several different ways how to do this successfully Finding a good guided meditation - how to find what works for you. For me it's all about the voice that's guiding me. Our nightly self care routine - how I found success in washing my face and brush my teeth, I do it earlier then before bedtime. Make yourself a self-care folder - all the feel good things go in here. Mine is digital (notes, videos, voicemails, photos, quotes, etc.) Watching something Mindless - for me it's cartoon movies (mostly Pixar) but for others its trash T.V. Journal - Sharing my morning and evening routines. Tips for those of you that are new to journaling, I share a few simple exercises. Breaking your habit when traveling - There's so much more to explore. Going different ways on dog walks or driving to and from work, doing a fitness class in a different spot than you normally gravitate to. Have a mini dance party - Such a joy to release and let go. As a woman in theatre body image, health & fitness can be a pressing topic, especially as a dancer, Today’s guest, Samm Hewes Cramer has been dancing since she could walk! Dance is where her active lifestyle and love for moving began. As a dancer her transition into the fitness industry was seamless and continues to be the best way she know how to express herself.

We get one body; take great care of it and love it through all its seasons. There’s a mindset, food will make me fat, but the reality is what are you eating? If you are eating whole foods, it’s hard to reach 2300 calories a day. We need to retrain our brains and educate ourselves on the food that gives us the best energy.

Nutrition is the biggest part of any fitness journey. We have to study in order to get better. We may say, “I deserve this treat because...”, but if we wouldn’t give our kid this sugar filled treat, then why would we consume it ourselves? It may taste really good, but what’s the long term effect? When am I going to crash from it, be bloated from it, be tired at my desk?

Samm leaves us with tips on how to train our mindset from way’s to have something sweet but have energy all day long, to tricks when dinning out. The food fuel is being mindful of what your eating, when your eating it and where it’s coming from. And ask yourself, “how hungry am I?” Don’t mistake hunger for dehydration, drink yo water!

We conclude with the beauty vs. the negativity of social media, discussing how conversation are more beneficial than noise. We are in charge of our reactions, where will you choose to invest your emotions? If you want it, and you're willing to work hard at it, it’s gonna happen.
