The Golden Knights added six-year NHL veteran Victor Olofsson to their roster Tuesday. Olofsson comes to VGK as a free agent, formerly of the Buffalo Sabres. He could slot in on the third line with fellow Swede William Karlsson or be reunited with former Sabres linemate Jack Eichel. Olofsson had a career high of 40 points during the 2022-23 season. But he netted just seven goals this past season and was buried on the fourth line due to a number of player injuries in Buffalo. VGK signed Olofsson to a one-year bridge deal. We talk about Jonathan Marchessault's farewell to Las Vegas. And we discuss current team needs and who might be next on the trading block.

The Golden Knights blanked the Calgary Flames for a second time this season on home ice. This time it was Ilya Samsonov who shut out the Flames 3-0 on 31 shots. Both he and Calgary goalie Dan Vladar were locked into a duel before Brett Howden broke the ice with 4:01 to go in the second period. That became the game winner. Samsonov had to withstand a lengthy penalty kill after back-to-back penalties on VGK. We recap Friday's win over the Sharks and the four-goal third period outburst for the Golden Knights. VGK has now won six straight games. We talk about the UNLV Rebels knocking off D1 Denver, and Derek Engelland is selected into the Southern Nevada Sport Hall of Fame. Mark Stone has had major injuries in each of the past three seasons that affected his playing time. He's had two back surgeries and this past season he was sent to the LTIR with a lacerated spleen. Stone played in 56 games this past season and almost had a point per game (53 points.) He has played in just 136 regular season games the past three seasons, out of 243 games. The NHL announced the salary cap for the upcoming season this past weekend, and it's slightly higher, by about $300k than originally projected. The cap will be $88-million this season, an increased of $4.5 million. The Golden Knights could use some of the additional cap money to pay UFA Jonathan Marchessault, if it so chooses. The team is cap-strapped currently. We also talk about the LTIR rules and whether GM's believe there should be a change. We talk Stanley Cup playoffs and the return of International Hockey rather than an all-star game.

The Golden Knights lost in a lackluster game to the Anaheim Ducks Thursday, 4-1. Jack Eichel scored the only goal for VGK. Team USA will have a rematch against Team Canada Thursday this time for the 4 Nations Championship in Boston. Canada held on for a 5-3 win after leading Finland 4-0 Monday to clinch a spot in the Final vs USA. Team USA lost a meaningless game, meanwhile 2-1 to Sweden. Team USA was shorthanded with an 11/6 structure to start the game. Brady Tkachuk skated into the goal post and played only two minutes. He came back after the injury but played only one shift, before departing again. Austin Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk and Charlie McEvoy were out for Team USA. We also talk about VGK returning to the ice on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday's game against Vancouver on home ice.

This will be the second of a four-game road swing before the break for the Golden Knights. Each team is banged up. The Islanders had a seven-game win streak snapped at Tampa on Sunday. They will look to bounce back. Bruce Cassidy has voiced his concern about a lack of depth scoring for VGK. By the end of the game, the Tkachuk's had four goals (two apiece) on 13 shots, one assist and 10 hits between them. VGK's Eichel had a couple of assists in the game. The Tkachuk's fueled Team USA's four goal, third period outburst enroute to a 6-1 USA win. Next up is the showdown, Saturday, between USA and Canada. We will see, most likely, Adin Hill in net for Team Canada. Meanwhile, VGK listed Shea Theodore as week-to-week, meaning he won't be back for the restart of the season. We preview Saturday's games.
