Relaunching Your Blog After a Sabbatical PLUS Providing Value Vs. Pitching
In today’s episode I will be answering some specific questions that came in from one of my readers, Chris. These topics will be important to understand and so helpful for you if you feel like you have been branding your company instead of yourself, as well as what to do if you have been missing in action for a while and want to resurface.
Chris asks:
“I’ve been blogging on/off for years and I stepped away for a while to deal with some family things, so my blogging challenge now is to “relaunch” my blog and get back in touch with my list I had built, if that’s possible? Â Sort of awkward to restart, or start over.
My other challenge is to switch from pitching my company like I did years ago and now come up with ideas for blogging that are generic and provide value.”
Enjoy the episode!
Key topics discussed in this episode:
- How to reintroduce yourself to your list after being missing in action for a period of time
- Why it’s important to brand yourself, not your company

- Adding a call to action (linking to a capture page) in your p.s. line after providing value

- Adding a category to your blog to keep company-specific content cataloged
- You can keep your blog specific to the degree that people don’t even know what company you’re in- creates curiosity

#007: How to Become a Master in Your Niche
How to Become a Master in Your Niche
Becoming a master in your niche is probably a lot more simple than you thought.
In this episode, I will break down some different steps you can take to become a master and stand out above the noise on the internet in your specific niche.
Enjoy the episode!
Key topics discussed in this episode:
- More often than not, people give up before they start to see results, they never allow themselves to achieve mastery.
- Hang your hat- figure out what niche you want to master, and then focus.
- It’s important to focus on a niche that you are actually passionate about
- Set an intention to learn something new every day in your niche.
- You do not have to be an expert in order to teach something
- Don’t expect big results immediately
3 Ways to Become a Master in Your Niche
- Study Your Topic– get involved in your niche, immerse yourself
- Interview Experts in Your Niche– look for patterns and best practices, use the content on your blog or podcast.
- Read books on Your Topic (if you read at least 6 books on your topic you will be in the top 10% of experts in your niche.
- When people see you learning consistently, they will see that you are committed to becoming a master and they will follow you and take you seriously
- The continuity of learning is mastery, we never actually ‘arrive’.
- If we don’t stay up to date, our content becomes irrelevant.
2 Ways to Provide Value in Your Niche
- Research and Report– learn from other people’s perspectives and condense what you learn and share it.
- Personal Experience – your life credibility is more valuable than any degree that you could acquire.
- Don’t be afraid to share the small victories, they are often what makes the biggest difference for people.
- If you’ve done the research AND you have personal experience, that will put you in the best positioning of all.
- Don’t compare yourself to others, nobody else in the world has the same experiences and life credibility as you.
Challenge: Read one book and do one interview per month. Stay on the master’s path!
The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.
