Lindy is a young grandma, and celebrated her admission into the “Over 55 Club” this past week. She jokes about whether she is antique or vintage, and shares a story about her passion for visiting antique stores and thrift shops. Many treasures can be found in antique stores, but where do they all come from? Lindy shares the story of a few treasures she found, as well as ponders the question of when is an item of value or simply just stuff.

Dogs rely on their human families to keep them safe. In this episode Lindy is joined by Eileen Drever, Senior Officer Protection and Stakeholder Relations for the BC SPCA. Together they discuss ways to help keep dogs and other household pets safe during the summer months. Dogs should have access to fresh food and clean water, shelter from the elements and never be left in a vehicle in warmer temps. Other animals can also be a potential hazard, particularly for the smaller breeds. Pet owners can benefit from a few gentle reminders, especially at the start of the summer season.

106 - Pay it Forward - Random Acts of Kindness

Pay it Forward is a term we often associate with buying someone a coffee at the drive-thru. Have you ever picked up the tab for someone you didn't know, simply because you wanted to do a kind thing? Does Pay it Foward only happen with restaurants and drive-thru's, or is it a concept that can be applied in every day life? In this episode I talk about Pay it Forward, and it started with a set of tires dumped in the woods. This is a shorter episode with a big message: small acts of kindness can go a long way.

I am grateful to be back in the podcast chair today, and happy to be walking without crutches. In today's episode I chat about how I am finding myself thinking more about how we can help others, yet maintain a safe distance at the same time. When we are out and about doing errands, day to day life, we run into all kinds of personalities and situations. Until we have walked in someone's shoes, we simply can't imagine what they are going through, and sometimes we need to use our best judgment and know when to help, and when to walk away.

68 - Musical Tears - It's OK to Cry in a Concert

Emotions are a good thing, and it's ok to shed a tear or two. It can be tricky when you are in a public setting and the waterworks kick in. A recent attendance at a local choir performance began a journey of reflection for Lindy, along with a quest for more tissue! Music brings harmony and trigger memories, bringing an awareness of aging and changing times. In this episode what started out as a quick late afternoon walk turned into a thought-provoking podcast recorded outside with nature. Lindy's most heartfelt podcasts come when sitting by the ocean, and in this episode she shares her experience in the choir concert and the impact it had on her life that day.
*Please be forgiving of the occasional "hiss" that was coming from the cell phone recording, in addition to the sound of the plane overhead. It was an "on the spot" recording, direct from the heart.
*Additional notes: My gratitude to my friend Thom for the invite. It's amazing how a small action can lead to big moments.
Congratulations as well to all the wonderful performers with Island Voices Chamber Choir, Quadra Singers and Comox Valley Children and Youth Choir. Your concert in March 2023 was great!

Welcome Back! After a month of not recording I concluded that I really miss my podcast. Hardly a day goes by where I don't think about it. This is where all the creativity began, and I love sharing positive stories.
Sometimes we need to take a break, stop, and look at where we can make changes. I tried to stop recording, but my heart is still here in the podcast. It doesn't change that life got too busy, and I needed to stop, refocus and find new directions. Sometimes if we go back to basics, we discover that there truly is a way. It felt great this morning to go back to my original intro music. I kept the episode short, and spoke from the heart. That's how it began, and this is how I will return. Simple, straightforward and speaking from the heart.

Staying active is important for your physical and emotional well being. In this episode, Lindy has a great chat with Lynsday Williams of the Busy Mums Fitness Corner podcast. Lyndsay wears many hats, including running her own home based salon, fitness coach and yes, a busy mom! There are many great ideas on how to stay active, whether you are a parent or simply a busy person. Lyndsay's positive attitude will keep you smiling, and perhaps even motivate you to do some bicep curls with that jug of milk. This episode runs close to an hour, and you will find it well worth it. If you listen to podcasts on your favorite app, perhaps you might put on some headphones and listen to this one while going for a walk, working in the yard or riding your indoor fitness cycle. It doesn't matter where you live, we are all in this world together and it's wonderful that two podcasters from 7300 km apart can chat about life, fitness and similar goals. Have a great week everyone, and remember that smiles come in all languages and in all colors.
