In this episode, we discuss anti-racism and intersectionality. Identifying and confronting racism by altering systems, organizational structures, policies, and attitudes in order to allocate power more fairly, is the goal of anti-racism. Since our identities are interconnected, intersectionality encourages us to think about how different components of our identity interact with one another and require equitable action.

These three panelists— Chisom Udeze, Sarah Przedpelska, and Sergio Prin-Sand —are joined by Hyacinth Walters-Olsen to discuss anti-racism and intersectionality at the workspace.

Most of us use them interchangeably, but they are far apart. Equality ensures that everyone has the same resources, whereas equity mandates that resources are distributed based on the needs of the recipients. This enriching podcast is moderated by Hyacinth Walters-Olsen with three panelists Chisome Udeze, Ezekiel Ward, Astrid Sundberg to manifestant Equality and Equity in the workplace and its impact on gender, minority groups, and company policies and processes.

Since 2020, Diversify has been broadening its contribution in terms of Diversity and inclusion, by holding monthly panel discussions on Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace in collaboration with HerSpace. These sessions take on various aspects of Diversity and inclusion relating to the workplace and our society at large. Now these discussions are available on a very informative podcast series.

The first episode of the series explores the terms diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and further the importance of implementing actionable structures as important steps to contributing to the success and strength of an organization.

Intersectionality is a term coined by Professor Kimberley Crenshaw. It is an analytical framework for understanding how a person’s social or political identity such as ethnicity, race, social class, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other facets of social stratification combine to create different modes of privilege and discrimination.
