How Yoga Changed My Life - 40. Yoga Nidra Meditation with Adrienne
play

11/06/23 • 24 min

In this week's episode, Adrienne guides you through a Yoga Nidra Meditation inspired by last week's guest, Amanda. If you haven't listened to episode 39 yet, what are you waiting for?!
Yoga Nidra or "yogic sleep" is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping. Clinical studies have shown that Yoga Nidra meditation is associated with positive physiological changes, including improvements in several hematological variables, red blood cell counts, blood glucose levels, and hormonal status. In fact, one hour of Yoga Nidra equates to roughly 4 hours of deep REM sleep!
Last week, Amanda opened up about how her "hot tears" in savasana had her coming back to her mat over and over again. Now, Amanda is a beloved, full time Yoga teacher, where she specializes in serving people in various rehabilitation and mental health facilities throughout SATX.

Find yourself a comfy space to relax and enjoy some peaceful time with yourself. This week, Adrienne will guide you through a rainbow chakra meditation.
WedMD definition for Chakra:
"Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel or cycle. There are seven main chakras situated along the spine, from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. This age-old belief has become integrated into many New Age styles of thought. Chakras are thought to provide subtle energy that helps your organs, mind, and intellect work at their best level. Chakras and spiritual energy have not been thoroughly examined in medical studies, but they may help you think about your own mind and body like any religion or belief. "

Chakras are part of of your energetic nervous system. By understanding that Yoga offers us the idea that the same wisdom held within any of us, at any time and place - also exists the raw potential in each of us.

7 Chakras we explore in this meditation:
Root - Feet & Legs; Regulates our primal needs, physical existence and survival, I Have

Sacral - Pelvis & Sex organs; Pleasure, Emotion, Change, Moon, Reproduction, I Feel

Solar Plexus - Core; Willpower, Self Esteem, Assertiveness, Metabolism, I Can

Heart - Chest, Arms & Upper Back; Relationships, Compassion, Unity, Balance, I Love

Throat - Neck, Jaw, Throat; Sound, Vibration, I Speak

Third Eye - Intuitively guided while rooted in reality

Crown - Personal acceptance of divinity and also engaged with others and the world.
