03/30/21 • 42 min

Sometimes it seems like the list of distractions is never-ending. Whether it’s the kids interrupting zoom calls or the growing mountain of laundry, there is just always something begging for your attention. Not to mention that cute and fluffy ball of fur that is quite literally begging for that oh-so-precious attention.

Kathy Santo is an incredibly talented dog trainer and has been instrumental to our family and helped Goose grow into the wonderful and well-behaved puppy he is! Seriously, her training has been life-changing, and the results had me begging for her to be a part of the podcast so you all could experience some of her magic.

Today, she’s sharing how to pick the best puppy for your home and lifestyle and what the heck to do with him or her when you get them home. I ask her some of the burning questions you’ve probably been wondering, such as preventing dogs from barking whenever someone comes to the front door and how to share a workspace with a needy puppy.

I think we all deserve a treat once in a while, and I hope this episode is one for you.

Be sure to tune in!

How to Sell Online - How To Grow FB Organically w/ Rachel Miller
play

01/07/20 • 32 min

In this episode, I bring in Rachel Miller, who is pretty much famous in the Facebook online marketing world because she has found the trick to grow your business FB page organically.

Yes, organically, with zero money. Can you imagine what it would be like to grow your page to thousands of followers or even millions of followers without paying Facebook? It works.

How do I know? I have actually been friends with Rachel for quite a while now and she has shared with me some of the tricks of the trade and we went from a couple hundred thousand followers to over 2.2 million followers on How Does She, one of my Facebook pages, and we did it in just a couple of years.

Then I took my eCommerce business before I sold it to over 400,000 followers with zero Facebook ad spend, and these weren't fake followers. These were people that I got to serve and sell to every day.

Now, I don't want those numbers to intimidate you. You might be thinking: “Alison, I just want a hundred. No way could I or no way would I want to get to a million followers.”

Well, the good news for you is that the rules have changed a bit in Facebook land. It's more about community over numbers right now, so smaller numbers or follower accounts can convert just as high as big numbers if you have the right people.

In this episode, Rachel dives into how you can find your perfect people and even influencers by asking the right questions on your page. She also talks about what to do if you're not getting any comments on your posts.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Being a stay-at-home mom, Rachel wanted to connect with other people... (5:18)
  • The right audience, message and content can help fulfil your purpose (9:34)
  • Making a difference with people spending their time or money (10:46)
  • If you're looking for people who have audiences, build a relationship... (11:51)
  • Take your product out of it and talk about the other person first (16:58)
  • They're there not to talk about their pain, not to talk about you (19:39)
  • On your profile, have one thing that's going to help them trust you more (21:47)
  • Have one call to action - we don’t want our audience to be confused (23:49)
  • You need to make it stupid easy for people to understand (26:13)
  • If I had a business question, I need to go where those biz people are (27:53)
  • Make sure if the content lifts your audience up (28:33)
  • Once you have some of your perfect people, begin tagging them... (28:55)

How to Sell Online - 4 Secrets to Building a $1 Million Wholesale Business
play

02/15/22 • 34 min

Oooohhhh...I’ve got someone great on the podcast today: Krista Jones, who is a wholesale business PRO.

This Alabama mom started Rockledge Design with a mission to create and sell ultra-soft, ultra-premium tees with beautiful, vintage-looking graphics.

(By the way, her shirts really are soooooooooooo soft. She knocks it out of the park, my friends.)

Here’s where her story veers from a lot of the people who join me on my podcast. She decided to wholesale her products via sites like Faire.

Um...and within 22 months of launching her company, she crossed over the ONE MILLION DOLLAR MARK.

Cha ching!!!!!

Selling tee shirts!!!!!!!

With no big social media presence,..with no Facebook ads (you’ve got to hear about her experience with those!)... and all the while providing other women fantastic $$$ earning opportunities.

Thinking about starting a wholesale business? You have come to the right place.

How to Sell Online - What Is The 'Magic' Of Selling?
play

11/24/20 • 56 min

In this episode, I spoke to my friend Savanah Poulson about how she's been able to grow a mega-successful business in a very saturated market.

Fashion & Beauty.

Savannah actually teaches makeup and hair and fashion...Now, how many people do you know that attempt to try that and don't make it? How many people quit because they think it's a crowded market.

I wanted to bring Savanah Polsen on today's podcast because I've watched her over the last few years explode by selling a product that feels impossible to sell in such a noisy world.

Now, Savannah and I have been friends for 5-6 years, and she actually was an author on the HDS blog that I co-own before she really dug into her own brand.

Today, she's sharing with you what took her from asking if she should even start her own thing to how she's getting millions of video views and growing her business to over 10,000 paying customers.

Plus, she can serve that many customers 1-1, and she explains the technology she used to organize it all and get those orders coming in!

Key Takeaways

  • How Savanah got started making content (07:30)
  • How she stands out in such a saturated market (09:45)
  • Savannah’s recommendation for finding the things we’re most comfortable with (16:00)
  • Why mindset is one of the most important things we can work on (20:00)
  • What she does to sell products during a tutorial (30:10)
  • Why she chooses to not outsource her color-matching (37:15)
  • What she does to make sure she is serving first (41:20)
  • Her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs (47:00)

How to Sell Online - How She Did 6 Figure In 7 Months
play

11/19/19 • 35 min

In this episode, I interview one of my students, Megan Pyrah. We talk about so many topics that I think a lot of female entrepreneurs deal with.

She reflects on how she convinced her family, her kids, instead of doing the dreaded lemonade stand on the corner, to actually start an online business and how that resulted in their kids making hundreds of dollars of sales online versus like the $10 that you make on the corner selling lemonade.

Stay tuned as we dig into how she made six figures in seven months, and the thing that helped her to make this her goal. And then, we dive into the mom guilt and we talk about how she can kick that while she is still working.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • The start: Blogging, social media, physical products, digital marketing... (2:50)
  • One summer, Megan's two youngest boys wanted to do a lemonade stand (4:13)
  • A year into her family biz, she saw an ad for my webinar and signed up... (5:06)
  • Her sons found products, launched them, packed orders, and earned (7:07)
  • Diving more into my course, the family listened to what I taught them (8:36)
  • Being consistent over and over again, no matter what month it is (13:02)
  • “Don't let your family be the excuse for not going for your dreams” (14:01)
  • Her “why” is big enough in what her business goals are (15:03)
  • Journaling and figuring out where she needs to spend her time that day... (15:44)
  • Megan shares her goals with her family members; they inspire each other (17:01)
  • About mom guilt: “Bring them along with you; explain what you're doing” (22:07)
  • “The more products you put out, the less scary it gets” (25:44)
