Her Voice Soars: stories of abuse and recovery

Join us today as we enter into the subject of "Body Image." We begin this episode with a poem that Erica wrote called "Wolf," which is a poem she wrote when she received a diagnosis of BDD. We will talk about what BDD is and how society enforces these obsessions through magazines, social media and TV by giving us a distorted view of what being "PRETTY" looks like through the worlds eyes. We will also give you some active steps you can take if you struggle with body image, and will also engage our own story's and struggles with this topic.

Join us this week for our Creative Corner episode! This week i will be reading a short story that Erica wrote During her journey through healing. Erica and i have short discussions on the writing at different intervals throughout the show. This episode is creative and uniques and we hope it encourages you to start writing! writing can be a wonderful aid through the healing process.

This episode is a short story episode about Oscar the dog who's owner meets a man and goes through the grueling journey of dating a "player" and being dumped. Oscar's owner then becomes depressed but blames it on oscar. Oscar is left wondering what he did wrong and begins to believe what his owner is saying and goes on psych meds. In the end they reunite but it is the journey of the ups and downs of relationship and the affect that psych meds often have on people who have unkept trauma still lingering around under the surface.
