This week our hosts sit down with Courtney and Emily. Both are licensed clinicians who are a part of our Mental Health Unit at GPPD.
Their daily duties are quite varied here at GP. They do many follow-ups, welfare checks, and even respond to in-progress calls with officers. Both also assist with critical incidents and special operations negotiations. They also help internally with our officer's mental health and wellness to keep everyone healthy mentally.
Emily earned her masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and focused her studies on mental health and substance use disorders. Emily is a licensed master's social worker and is currently working toward obtaining her hours for clinical licensure. She works for Grand Prairie Police Department in the crisis support unit and is a co-responder with a law enforcement officer. Emily serves first responders in private practice and is EMDR trained. She has experience working in community mental health and was a crisis Interventionist for a local mental health authority for several years. Emily provides Crisis Intervention training, Mental Health Peace Officer Training, and other specialized training to local police departments.

Courtney earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M Commerce. Courtney is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. She is also a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist and trained in EMDR. Courtney currently works as the Crisis Support Supervisor for the Grand Prairie Police Department. She is a crisis interventionist and a liaison between law enforcement and the community. She is the Peer Support Coordinator for the department, working to assist in promoting officer wellness and resiliency. She is a trained hostage negotiator and serves as the mental health professional on the Grand Prairie Crisis Negotiation team. She has experience working with chronically mentally ill adults, persons in crisis, and persons affected by trauma.
They both come from a long line of service professionals and we are glad to have them!

This week our hosts sit down with Airic. Airic has been with GPPD now for 7 years.
He grew up in Grand Prairie then enlisted in the US Marine Corps. After serving for 5 years, he came back and went to school. After getting his bachelors degree, he joined GPPD. With us he has been an intern, a public safety officer, and then became a police officer. He was in Academy Class #5.
Since becoming a police officer, he has been on patrol, a Field Training Officer (FTO), SWAT team member, and Honor Guard member. He is currently a property crimes detective in investigations.
He is a proud husband and father of three.

This week our hosts sit down with Greg and Randall. They are our police officers who are assigned full time to our Crisis Support Unit. Their daily duties are quite varied here at GP. They do many follow-ups, welfare checks, and respond to in-progress calls. They typically partner with Courtney or Emily (our licensed clinicians) while responding to calls.
Greg has been a police officer for a very long time. He grew up in Grand Prairie and went to work in Florida as a police officer. He came back to GP and has been with us for 28+ years. He has 34+ years in Law Enforcement. He has worked in just about every division while at GPPD and has been has also been a long time instructor here. He is also appointed by the Governor to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council. Randall is a USMC veteran who came to us as an out of state lateral. He has been a police officer for over 15 years. He has been with GP for over 5 years now.
Parenthood and the emotional toll of police work are also discussed in-depth, as Greg and Randall open up about the risks they face on the job and the challenges of balancing their responsibilities as officers and parents.
