36. The Story of Madge Oberholzter

On March 15, 1925 a young woman was abducted by a man that had become infatuated with her and was insistently trying to date her. She was repeatedly raped and tortured for days before she attempted suicide by poisoning herself and he finally brought her home, claiming she had been in a car accident. Believing he was untouchable as the leader of the Indiana chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, he was soon shocked to learn she was able to give a full statement before her death and he was tried and convicted of his crimes. This tragic event ultimately led to the demise of the second incarnation of the KKK in the United States. This is the story of Madge Oberholtzer.

On the morning of June 13, 1977 a camp counsellor was walking to the showers area at a Girl Scout camp in Mayes County, Oklahoma, when she stumbled upon the body of one of the campers. It was soon discovered that all three young girls who had been sharing tent #8 had been viciously murdered and left on the trail. A suspect was eventually tried for the murders and was acquitted of all charges but new DNA evidence suggests he may have been guilty all along. This the story of Lori Lee Farmer, Doris Denise Milner and Michele Heather Guse, also known as the Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders.
