Experience Motherhood - 7. Get Mom Confident: Strategies for Moms to Succeed
play

05/16/23 • 16 min

Are you looking for ways to grow your confidence so you can finally take action in reaching your goals? In today's episode, I discuss how to build confidence in motherhood by boosting self-esteem, being grateful, and embracing your unique story. Being a mother can be challenging, and it is common to feel self-doubt or insecurity. However, with the right mindset and tools, we can cultivate confidence as women and face our fears head on.

I share a personal story of how I have struggled with comparison, yet decided to take action in following my dream. By taking action, I built more confidence to continue putting myself “out there” and to embrace more of my own unique story. I believe with some of the strategies mentioned in this episode, you can take your own actions to gain more confidence in any area of your life.

Are you the “default parent”? Do you find you feel guilty for taking time for yourself away from the kids? Are you struggling with the invisible load in motherhood? My guest, Amy Kiefer, joins me in this week’s episode as we discuss the emotional, mental and physical labor it takes to keep a family and household.
Amy Kiefer's purpose in life is simple yet transformative — to help and empower others. A multi-passionate entrepreneur, small business owner, and mom of three, she got her start by launching a blog and later developing the pregnancy and postpartum workout app, Expecting and Empowered. In her mission to give women the confidence and care they deserve, Amy has since gone on to create numerous outlets for her purpose-driven mindset. Drawing from her exercise science education, a nursing career in oncology, and her daily challenges as a mom, her endeavors have grown into a vibrant and supportive community – prompting the collaborative development of Amy’s two other online businesses: Pursuing Her Purpose and the top-rated HERself Podcast, with over 2.5 million downloads. Acclaimed for empowering women through some of their most difficult seasons, Amy is proud to help her community move past stress, guilt, and common obstacles to lead happier, healthier lives that are more aligned with their dreams.

Amy provides resources as well as practical tips that will challenge and encourage you to ask yourself how you can make visible some of your load. Both Amy and myself share personal stories of how the invisible load in motherhood has affected our own motherhood stories.

Ever feel like motherhood is an unforgiving juggling act? You're not alone. That's why I've invited Ashley Blackington, an occupational therapist turned CEO of Dovetail Designs, to share her game-changing strategies for transforming the chaos of family life into a harmonious symphony. She created the Dovetail® framework by combining her 12+ years of clinical experience, research, and the lived experience of trying to, collaboratively, run a busy home with her husband. Our discussion uncovers the magic of making the 'invisible' workload visible, redistributing tasks, and establishing a thriving environment of shared parenting responsibilities.
As we peel back the layers of home management, we uncover the essential role of visual systems and effective communication in achieving balance. Ashley's planner isn't just a schedule—it's a revolution, integrating self-care and reflection into the fabric of family organization. We delve into how these tailored tools can liberate mental space and promote individual and collective well-being.
If you've ever found yourself longing for a moment of peace amidst the whirlwind of parenting, this episode is your blueprint for crafting a space where personal growth and family planning coexist.
Wrap up the episode by stepping into a future where gender roles in parenting are relics of the past. We share candid reflections on the power of trust in your partner's parenting prowess and how to inspire children of any gender to contribute to household tasks. This conversation goes beyond planners and systems; it's a call to action for incremental change, patience, and the joyous rewards of shared control. Join us on this transformative journey—your ticket to a more organized, collaborative, and joyful path in the wild adventure of raising a family.
