Ranking the Disney Renaissance Part 1
08/17/20 • 66 min
Welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, The Rock’s #1 choice for best Disney podcast done by a couple of high school sweethearts with a 10 inch height difference.
We can’t wait for you to listen to this week’s episode, but first, some Disney News!
Last week Living with the Land malfunctioned, causing the jets to shut off and the boats to drift backward. If you think that sounds like it would be a fun ride, we’re with you!
Also, Disney comes to an agreement with the Equity Actors’ Union which will enable some of the character shows to restart at the parks. Yay!!
This week we’re so excited to bring to you part 1 of our 2 part series, Ranking the Disney Renaissance Movies.
The Disney Renaissance is a group of 10 animated movies released from 1989-1999, which really helped to bring Disney back to the forefront of entertainment by returning to Walt’s formula of telling well-known tales. In it, Disney found massive success and produced some of their most beloved movies. They also worked through an era of technical growth, with the use of the new CG animation.
This week and next, we go through the movies ranking them 10-1. We discuss what makes these movies so lovable, and in some cases, what makes them not work as well as others. It was a tough job, but someone has to do it!
Also, a big thank you to some of our favorite Disney podcasters (Curtis and Lindsay from Geekin' on WDW and Trent and Jeni from Disney DNA) and bloggers for picking some of their favorites and explaining why they love them so much!! This was a really fun episode to make and it wouldn’t be possible without you all and your amazing sound bites!
Tune in next week for part 2! Have a magical week!

Skipping the Lines with Len Testa from Touring Plans
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast! This week we're going to get straight into it because do we have quite an amazing podcast for you!
This week we interviewed Len Testa, president and creator of touringplans.com, coauthor of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, and one of the two hosts of the Disney Dish podcast. Yeah...we know...super impressive, right? For the majority of the podcast, we talk about touringplans, a website that helps you to create the best plan to get you through the park on any given day. It gives you actual wait times of the rides and allows you to save your valuable time. You may also recognize it because we use touringplans' ratings for our Overrated/Underrated episodes. We talk to Len about how he originally conceived of the idea, what common mistakes people make when planning their day, what the parks have been like since reopening, what he feels is touringplan's most overrated and underrated rides, his favorite restaurant, etc. We had such a fun time talking to Len, and we appreciate his time and candor. Please check out all things Len if you haven't already. Have a fabulous week, everyone! Ranking the Disney Renaissance Part 2
Last week, we covered our favorite Disney Renaissance movies 7-10, so this week is Part 2, our top 6 picks of all 10 Renaissance movies. If you missed last week, be sure to check out that episode first! If you haven't listened to that, stop reading here. Just to recharge your memory, we ranked Pocahontas 7th, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 8th, The Little Mermaid 9th, and Rescuers Down Under 10th. In that episode we also explained that the Disney Renaissance is a group of 10 animated movies released from 1989-1999, which really helped to bring Disney back to the forefront of entertainment.
This week, we have to battle it out with each other to put the movies in the "correct" order, and I'm still not sure we got it quite right. Some things we looked at to determine the top movies (because let's face it, they're all amazing movies) are music, character, storyline, setting, and voice actors. We certainly had our hands full!
Also, again, we'd like to say a big thank you to some of our favorite Disney podcasters and bloggers for picking some of their favorites and explaining why they love them so much!! This was a fun few episodes to make and it wouldn’t be possible without you all and your amazing sound bites!
Don't forget to subscribe and review our podcast. It helps us out massively. And tell a friend! Here's a sample of that conversation:
