Attraction Backstories You Never Knew
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
09/28/20 • 38 min
Hello and welcome to the best Disney podcast that is recorded by a couple of Disney-loving, kitten-crazy, floppy eared dog enthusiasts.
This week in Disney News, rumored earnings from Mulan make the movie a huge success. This makes us wonder if the rumor that Pixar's Soul will also be released on streaming has a strong likelihood to be true. Tokyo Disneyland also soft-opened Enchanted Tales of Beauty and the Beast, another trackless ride with lots to see. Joe and I watched the ride video and were a little underwhelmed, but maybe it's different if you actually ride it! Sit back this week and prepare to have your mind bent and your ride experiences forever altered. Let me explain. You know how authors tend to write more background on a character than is ever given in a story? This week, we delve into the not-so-well-known ride backgrounds after seeing the mind-blowing post that you're actually dead when riding The Haunted Mansion. Yep! You read that right! You die during the ride! Hear about this and other crazy ride backgrounds that you wouldn't guess in your wildest dreams. (Seriously, you won't believe the back stories for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad OR Pirates of the Caribbean!) We hope you have a magical week full of pumpkin spice (if that's your sort of thing) and apple-picking. Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
09/05/22 • 45 min
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it’s time for a little Disney News!
WDW’s 50th Anniversary will officially end on March 31, 2023, about 18 months after it started.
Disney announced that cast dress rehearsals for Fantasmic have started! Finally!!
And lastly, is it possible that Disney will basically get their own Amazon Prime-like service? The talk around town says yes. They’ve mentioned QR codes during Disney+ shows and exclusive merch, but is this something people really want?
It’s been a while, so this week we resurrect one of our staples shows, “You can only pick one.”
This time we do “Paris Edition” choosing between different rides, shows, versions of the same ride in different parks, and merch.
These are always so hard, but we always enjoy how they force us to be critical of things we typically wouldn’t be critical of. Especially when you have three great and unique shows that can only be seen in Paris.
Do you agree with our picks?
As always, thank you so much for listening! Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.
Have a magical week!
Remembering Rolly Crump
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney.
With Tron opening April 4th and running soft openings now, the new Tron merch is out, and it looks pretty awesome!
Also, this week Disney announced a bunch of new character-based interactions coming this year. Moana will be on the Floatillas in Animal Kingdom starting April 22. Mirabel will debut in the fall at Fairytail Garden in the Magic Kingdom. And Figment will appear at Imagination Pavillion later this year!
Legacy? What is a legacy?
With the passing of famous Imagineer and Disney Legend, Rolly Crump, this past week, we wanted to zoom in on the man and really talk about his life and what he's left behind.
It takes a special person to recognize their strengths, elevate others, and think outside the box, and that's exactly the type of person Rolly Crump was. From all accounts, he helped others actualize their potential, was revered by Walt, and he is responsible for some of the most iconic designs in Disneyland and Disney World.
Crump worked on It's a Small World, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and Haunted Mansion along with countless other projects both in the Disney Parks and beyond. It was a pleasure to learn about the life and contributions of this amazing man, and we think you're going to enjoy it, too!
As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week!

Orange Bird
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
04/29/19 • 46 min
In this week’s Disney News, Disney announces they’re taking a break on Star Wars movies, which is no real surprise after Solo didn’t do as well as expected. Also, Disney finally released that Galaxy’s Edge reservations give you a 4 hour window to explore the park and fit you with shock collars to enforce the time limit. (Okay...not really, but it’d get people out of the park on time, wouldn’t it?)
Today, Orange is the new black. We’re discussing Orange Bird. Maybe you’ve heard of him, maybe you haven’t, but if you’ve been to EPCOT lately—or on Instagram for that matter—he’s pretty hard to miss. We go into detail of who he is, where he came from, and talk about his comeback.
Back in 1967, Disney struck up a deal with the Florida Citrus Commission to create a loveable character to be featured in orange juice commercials and in the new Walt Disney World Resort’s Enchanted Tiki Room. And unto us, a star was born!
Or at least sort of a star.
You see, Orange Bird went on a bit of a vacation, which is why a lot of kids raised in the 90s don’t know much about him. But now, he’s back to claim his rightful place in the park. We answer why he went and how he got created in the first place and so much more.
Again, special thanks to our listeners for allowing us to reach this amazing milestone of 50 episodes. It seems like we just started, but we’re officially almost at our year marker! Also, thanks to Rob Plays on YouTube, allears.net, and Wikipedia for the amazing information.

Dismantling Our Disney World Trip
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
04/22/19 • 60 min
Hello! We’re back from Disney and anxious to talk about it! But first, we discuss the latest (week old) Disney news. (Sorry, ‘bout that. Too much excitement over the End Game ticket release last time!) A new trailer for The Lion King dropped and Joe learned his lesson not to bring it up no matter how incredible he thinks it is. Also, the 2019 Food and Wine Festival dates were released ensuring that August 29thwill be the most insane day in park history.
In this episode, we go park-by-park reviewing the highlights of the FOOD and the rides and the FOOD, starting in Animal Kingdom. This being our first trip to Disney World since Pandora opened, we discuss all things Pandora. Two incredible fastpass grabs by Joe enabled us to ride Flight of Passage twice, which I’m thankful for. Definitely don’t ride this for the first time on a full stomach. The second ride, though, was a delight. We both appreciated the ride’s unique qualities that make it actually feel and look and smell like you’re on the back of a banshee.
All we did in Hollywood Studios was visit Toy Story Land, which was vibrant and so much fun! Slinky Dog Dash and our (untalked about) interaction with Buzz Lightyear made the trip to this park well worth it. (Check the Instagram for the story about Buzz.)
And then it was EPCOT...oh EPCOT...the place that all parents love and kids are like, “Hey, can we please go to Magic Kingdom now?” I never understood the love affair either until I developed a palette. I’d say that everything we ate there was the highlight of my trip: poutine, maple popcorn milkshake, Orange Bird Slushie, and the cauliflower dish at The Honey Bee-stro. Plus, we rode Frozen, a ride that will make you love the movie.
In Magic Kingdom, we rode the staples, but talked a lot more about the rides that are easy to miss like The Peoplemover and Spaceship Earth. (Hot tip: These two rides are perfect to fall asleep on if you’re tired.) We thoroughly enjoyed the cute Donald Duck cartoon in Mickey’s Philharmagic. And again, after running so much during our trip, we enjoyed sitting down for 10 minutes or so.
Finally, we end our trip discussion in Disney Springs. If you have the chance to do the Ralph Breaks VR at The Void before it’s gone, do it! It’s a riveting competition between you and the other characters that I wouldn’t promote nearly as much if I hadn’t beaten Joe. ;)
We had a fabulous trip and are so happy to share it with you! Thanks so much for listening and making it all the way down here in the description. Don’t forget to check out our Facebook and Instagram accounts @enchantedearspodcast. Have a magical day!

The Force was with Us: Our Experience Running the Star Wars Rival Run
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
04/15/19 • 49 min
Hello, you wonderful balls of sunshine! This week, we still have that Disney glow that you only get when you’ve visited the happiest place on earth.
In Disney news, the new Star Wars trailer dropped and gives fans plenty to think about. From new characters (including an adorable new droid) to Rey’s sweet ninja flips to Kylo’s pieced together mask, the trailer already looks better than the whole of the last movie. (Ow...burn.) Also, Disney finally gave more information about their new streaming service, Disney+. The price point and content have both of us saying, “Take our money now!”
Our main topic this week is the 2019 Star Wars Rival Run. We discuss our experience running the race, our fatigue with having to get up at 3 am for 2 days in a row, the busing, race expo, route, and pretty much anything else that you’d like to know. The high points of the race were definitely the lasers and character photos. The low was running past the sewage treatment plant and just running in general. We also sprinkle in a few other hot tips about getting around Disney. If you’re thinking about running a 5K, 10K, half, or full marathon, we’d highly suggest trying a Disney one. We had so much fun! Just be sure to pack your extra pair of legs.

Alien Encounter ExtraTERRORestrial
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
02/15/21 • 42 min
This week in Disney news, despite the circumstances, Disney would still like Black Widow to be a theatrical release. Also, the Leave a Legacy monoliths are back, but in a different form. There is now a rainbow wall outside the park where you can take your picture and post it on your instagram because walls are a thing.
Love is in the air. Valentine’s Day is such a nice, happy holiday. So...let’s imagine we’re in a bizarro world where instead of happy, fun times, Disney is known as a place that can deliver truly chilling ride experiences. They develop a ride around the idea of a well-known sci-fi horror film in which an alien eviscerates human beings. In the ride, an alien escapes its containment pod and rampages throughout the auditorium, surprising and horrifying guests with what seems like blood spatter, neck breathing, and the alien itself jumping onto your shoulder harness.
No need to imagine that, because from 1995-2003, such a ride existed: ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. Although the ride never ended up including the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise because...wow that’s not a fit with the Disney brand...it did have a horrifying animatronic alien created by George Lucas himself to help audience members have nightmares for days. Why did Disney decide to take this path? Why not use the Xenomorph from Alien? Why Tomorrowland? What kind of crazy parent would take their child on this? We answer these questions and more in this week’s chilling episode.

ReImagineering the Magic Kingdom
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
03/08/21 • 49 min
Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your spot for anything and everything Disney!
There’s lots of news this week, so better get into it! With restrictions easing up in California, talk of Disneyland reopening has ignited.
Across the country, Disney Parks posted our first looks at the newly-renovated rooms at the Polynesian Resort, which pays great tribute to Moana without hitting you over the head with it.
In keeping with the theme of the pandemic, Disney announces it will close 60 Disney stores across the US.
Sunshine Tree Terrace revealed it’s beautiful new Orange Bird wall.
Finally, Harmonious barges have invaded World Showcase Lagoon. (Seriously, they look like alien spaceships.)
This week, we go through each section of the park, Main Street, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Tomorrowland, and retool what the park would look like after a massive update from Disney's newest Imagineers: us! (To be clear, we are not Imagineers. We just thought it'd be fun to play one for a day!) We take some MASSIVE liberties by picking up and completely moving rides, magically creating a lot more space, and treating money as absolutely no object. And, heck, why not just make new lands altogether? Why not create a Frozen-themed restaurant? And for goodness sake, Disney, give the people what they want: more pie! (Or is that just me?)

The Adventurers Club
Enchanted Ears - Anything & Everything Disney
07/06/20 • 48 min
This week in Disney News, Disney announces they're redoing Splash Mountain after some public pressure due to its ties to the movie Song of the South. It'll be rethemed as Princess and the Frog and it's actually been in the works for about a year.
Also, Disney announces their park reservation system.
We're so excited to talk about the Adventurers' Club this week, which used to be a club in what is currently Disney Springs. It was a magical place where actors, props, and the atmosphere would immerse you in the world of an explorer...oh and it was December 31,1937 every day. That's right, every night culminated in a beautiful New Year's Eve fireworks spectacular!
We go into the details (because this club was all about the details) that were involved in making this experience what sounds like a full-on joyride from when you came in to when you left. This includes one of the highlights of the Adventurers' Club experience, actors that were masters at improv and would converse with guests and star in stage shows. To fill out the experience more, there were talking animatronic heads, puppets, and unique traditions that would make you believe for a night that you were part of a vibrant secret society.
Sadly, this club closed down in the 2000s. Listen to find out answers to questions like: What caused the club's downfall? Is there any portion of the club that lives on today? For more information, please check out the amazing video and article by reviewtyme and wikipedia, which we used as our source.
We hope you're staying safe and well!
Thank you for listening and have a magical week!
